is my action justified????

my husband has this brother who he hasn't seen for years. in fact for the thirty years we have been together i've only seen him once. august of 2005 he made contact asking for help. his health was in a sorry state. he was so thin and had a lot of complications because of his diabetes. we decided to have him confined in the hospital for a complete check up. he stayed in the hospital for a month. when he was released he looked much better and we told him that we will help him financially until he fully recovers and be able to go back to work. it was like clock work every first of the month he will ask his wife to go to our place and give us the breakdown of their expenses. at first i din't mind because i know he is still recovering. a year has passed and it was still the same, so i finally confronted the wife and asked her how come he is not yet back at work and to my surprise she told me that he does not want to work anymore coz it's the obligation of his brothers and sisters to help him, so i told the wife to tell him that it will be the last time they will get money from us. and i don't want anything to do with them anymore. we have done our share, and besides what we did was because we wanted to help and it was not an obligation. as the saying goes "enough is enough"

you are completly right! you've supported him in his hour of need...(for a year!)and now he is just taking advantage of you.
i find it rather odd of his wife to tell you what he said..i mean she could have really backed up his "still needed help" story. perhaps she is getting frustrated with his lack of motivation too. i would be.
dont feel bad, dont feel guilty..feel frustrated and used. you have been, you've done far more than enough, and probably far more than most of us would be willing to do if in your situtation.
