I know I started this same same discussion two days ago ( & it's fine that you did too), but I just had to add something that hass developed since I posted my discussion. The nursing home cat news has reached Australia. Last night it was on the main news on TV. They showed quite a long segment about it, showing the cat, the nursimng home & interviewing the nurses & Doctor. I even received an email this morning with more info about it. Oscar has sure attracted a lot of attention world wide with his compassion.

i remember i read some guy (the evolution guy) once said that all life on earth is connected somehow and that we all communicate somehow. Maybe the cat doesnt know that a person is dying but knows that somthing is wrong so he goes and confort them.

This is the second story I have heard of to with cats, yes i believe animals have a sixth sense, one that we could have if we just let ourself open to spirituality but not in the religious way... I believe the elderly connect in a spiritual way near the end, there are so many things we just don't know about but will one day.

Yes I agree a lot of cats are psychic. I certainly wouldn't want this cat sleeping on my bed lol. I know a lot of animals know when we are feeling down and they try to comfort us as much as they can. This cat may be comforting the person as they know they are going to die and let the person know they are not alone when they pass on. It sounds like a very intuitive and loving cat though.

i too read this article. I think animals probably sense emotional and physical ailments in more subtle ways than humans can. The cat knowing who is going to die next is, to me, kind of like predator picking out the weakest prey. It's probably an instinctual, animal trait that humans have lost

I read the story and find it very believable. Animals are attuned to energies and this cat has obviously a highly devloped ca-dar' that allows it to tae a 'read' on the patient's aura and is able to tell when something has changed or the field has weakened. It is probably part of the reason why they were worshipped in Eygpt...their mysterious ways are evident to all of us who know cats and love them.

I do believe a cat knows and senses things before we humans pick up on it. My cat always know when I am sad or distressed..If I get excited or talk loud she comes over and yells at me and nips me on my arm ..a little cat prick. If I am crying she comes over and rubs on my arm or leg and meows and then jumps up on my lap and presses down with her paws ..why guess to leave her scent thinking I will feel more secure;) My cat is extremely smart and if I were dying I am sure she would be fussing!

Ah yes - I read about this cat in my newspaper this morning. And yes - I do believe that cats have special powers, and a kind of "sixth sense". I have 5 cats as I have said many times before here - and I honestly believe that they are a far cleverer and more superior species than the human race. They can find their way home over hundreds of miles, - their senses are uncanny, and I'm sure this little cat really does know when someone is dying, and cuddles up to comfort them.

Yes, I do believe that the cats know someone is dying as they also know when you don't feel good. My cat "Mytic" will come closer to my face and see if I am alright. When she comes to my face she looks at me and lit looks like she knows somethng is going to happan she better be wrong! She also knows when theres a storm coming.

It's well known that animals do know what is going on, alot of times before we do. Animals know when a storm is coming, when there's danger etc. xxx

i read about that in the newspaper, really cool huh, cat knowing when people are going to die and all that stuff. But u know what there are some people who say that it could be sue to the cats self centered interess like a hot blanket and other silly stuff like that. I mean if that's the case wouldn't all the other cats in all the other hospitals in the world do the same.

I definitely believe that animals can sense those kinds of changes in the chemical reactions in our bodies. I DON'T believe it's because they are psychic.

I have had two instances involving ESP and cats. When my aunt was pregnant with her first child, her cat came and laid down on her belly and was purring very loadly. Later on that week, she had a miscarriage. My cat once woke me up by nudging my face. I sat up to find I was having a bleeding nose.

It is rare for all of them to be in at ones lol but that Day they where and they where on our Laps all the time

My wife told me about this a couple of days ago. Yes animals can since when people are sick and when they are dying. I just think that I would not want that cat to come to my room because then I would know that my time was up. But then the cat seems to be providing some comfort for the person. I had a dog that know when I was having a flare up and she would stick right beside me during the times I was not doing well as if she was saying "I am here to comfort you in your time of need". It really did help and I could always rely on her.

I've seen a few pieces about this puss today. One lot calls him the "grim creeper" another said that he puts patients "purr-manently to sleep. Staff at the hospital go into action calling up the rellos to come say farewell, luckily none of the patients have woken up to what he's doing....maybe that's the whole point, spooky!

i dont think a cat can know when someone is dying .they have other special capabilities.because of thier excellent smelling capacity.dogs are far more intelligent than cats.dogs can even understand the mood of humans.because they understand heart beats.

I never had a cat but i do believe that animals do have special senses. They can sense when there's something wrong. I can notice it in our pet dog. It's kind weird actually but at the same time amazing. Like yesterday i was sad, and i think he sensed it, what he did was he stayed under my table and didn't leave until my husband arrived. And about cats, i've read that, several ancient religions believed that cats are exalted souls, companions or guides for humans, that they are all-knowing but are mute so they cannot influence decisions made by the humans. mwahugs.. :D
