Saturday july 28th is my big sisters birthday. She has 3 kids and well i dont want to give her money because as we all know she wont spend it on herself. I was thinking about taking her out and just letting her get what ever she wants. But the only thing is that she is still apt to pick up things that the kids need. My sister is a stay at home mom and well, i just want to do something special for her. She has been down lately and well i just want to cheer her up. Any suggestions. Should i get her a card as well? I was just thinking about making one online or maybe someone could point me in a great free card website. Any suggestions?

Why don't you take her for a pampering day? Take her to get her hair, nails etc done and then for lunch that way she has to do something for her and you will know it's money well spent as she will go home feeling alot better and you will to. As for a card make 1 I think it's alot more personal!

Thanks for your reply. Thank you i sure will make her a card. I feel as thought its better than spending 5 bucks on one and her throwing it away in a few days.

I bet she would of liked the card and I know she wouldn't through it away. Something made is something specail from the heart so I bet she would of kept it even if you bought her a card she would of kept it.

How about a bath and lotion set? Or a treat at the spa - A massage maybe? Or a manicure and pedicure? And you can babysit her kids while she goes out to get that. Or arrange for a babysitter to watch her kids while you and her go out to a nice restaurant for a meal.

Thank you for your response. I like the idea of taking her out for a nice meal. Since the kids are away at camp i wont have to babysit woo hoo. Those kids are a bunch of monkeys. But i love em anyways.

Some nice bath stuff would be a great idea. Bath salt or oil, bubble bath, scented soap or body wash... lavender would be a good scent, since it has calming/relaxing properties.

I don't think clothes would be just a good thing. I know it is nice but I know for me I gain some weight and I don't like buying clothes now. If you do buy her soemthing buy some pjs. Something she can wear at night to make her feel good.

This may not be what you are thinking, but how about just taking the kids for the day? She would probably like to just have alone time. I'm a SAHM as well, and I think that the thing I crave most--just some alone time. Definately a card, definately, a small gift--just for her--maybe bubble bath and a good book. With the kids gone, she can take that long relaxing bath, read her book, work on a scrapbook, or simply go shopping. Even if she's shopping for the kids, it would be relaxing to do WITHOUT the kids. :) Tell her I said happy birthday! :)

I'm glad that the kids are taken care of. :) That helps planning a lot! Thanks for the link, too. It looks like a lot of fun! I'll inspect it in further detail when I have a few more minutes. LOL! Your sister is mighty lucky to have you--someone who cares so much about her. Kudos to you!

Hi!You should know a little of your sister's tastes to select the appropriate gift for her.A Card & a ROSE will always be evergreen, but as a Gift, you could buy her a piece of Jewellery if she likes, or something which would be helpful & she may be needing it...like a microwave or aTV or whatever.Give her something memorable & useful which will also show youe true LOVE & Concern. Best Wishes, www.creatingcolourfulfuture.com

It is nice you want to do something nice for your sister. But maybe just spending sometime with her will cheer her up. Maybe she doesn't want anything but just some peace. I bet you are a special person to her and she loves you very much. I know she must be thnking the same thing for you when your birthday comes. Good luck and tell your sister I said happy birthday.

You can send free greeting cards from www.123greetings.com. For her birthday I suggest that you could probably plan with her kids a surprise party. Get someone to take her out and then you and the kids bring in some food and gifts that she won't be able to say no to. Hide when she enters then jump out with the cake and food singing happy birthday, everyone likes surprise. Like a gift card to the local spa or something.
