I am new to mylot myself, but I will share with you what I did. Before I joined any discussions or started any, I read the guidelines. They are very important. If you do break the rules, someone will usually let you know, and you listen to them and thank them, they are only trying to help you to have a good experience here. The only thing after that is to have fun. I did read a lot of discussions before I joined any, I wanted to see what types of interests I should list for myself. Another important thing is BE NICE. Mylotters are here for making friends, money and to have a fun time. Good luck.

Welcome to Mylot yvette81...I should have read the rules first before starting but I learnt quick and found out that mylotters are willing to help you..And it is really good advice that if people respond to your discussion and are either missing the point or pretend like that know you personally avoid them..I found out the hard way my first day in mylot..hugzzz and goodluck..There are some very wonderful people in mylot and I've met some wonderful new friends

'Lang may your Lum Reek' and a guid Scots welcome to you.
You can have a lot of fun on MyLot (and if you are not careful a bit of grief as well). If you want to get along make sure you have a reasonable number of responsible friends, make genuine comments and rate as well.
Try to avoid meaningless discussions and those with one or two words in their responses. Try and get a suitable Avatar (picture or drawing to display) - it can be just about anything as MyLot mambers do relate to your Avatar - its fairly easy to load, there are instructions in 'Edit your Preferences'.
You can respond to any discussion, not just ones that your friends start. You get paid more for points for longer responses than you do for smaller ones, you also get a point if you post a relevant photograph (relevant to the discussion or your response), but remember that you must have the copyright for the photograph.
You also get paid if enough people respond to any discussions you start.

Welcome to mylot yvette81. I think everyone else pretty much said what you should do and what you shouldn't do. Most importantly have fun and hope you enjoy here as much as we do :)

Well - I was going to ask whether that 81 was your year of birth or your age, but by looking at your profile, I come to the conclusion that it's your year of birth.
I am one of those people who seems to have a somewhat demented mind, but I'm harmless, unless you're allergic to laughing or something like that. Like zukepr mentioned, it's best to take a look at the MyLot Guidelines so that you don't do anything MyLot might not like.

A very warm welcome, yvette81! I followed katesmama's link and ta-da! there you are. You have received a lot of good, sane advice from some veteran myLotters, so being a relative newbie myself, my only advice is to just be yourself, have fun, don't be shy about giving your two cents' worth (well here they only give you one cent's worth! LOL!), and pretty soon, you'll be as addicted to myLot as the rest of us! A big welcome hug! {{{{{yvette81}}}}}

Welcome to myLot, yvette81. It's wonderful that you've got a very close friend to help you along here. I have one person who's close to me, that's also a myLot member, which is great, but all of my other 'wonderful friends,' I've met since I became a member. This is a very special and supportive atmosphere, once you find your way, and get to know your 'real friends' here.

Welcome to mylot yvette and I hope that you enjoy it here - I know I do! There are a lot of nice people on mylot but also some that are better to avoid - you will easily find out who to avoid! If someone disagrees with you you do not have to agree with them but do be tactful when you respond Above all be yourself and have fun - oh yes and if you don't like a post just ignore it and move on - that is one of the best pieces of advice I can think of! xxx

Welcome Yvette, everyone has given you very good advice, and I will just second a couple of things, choose your friends wisely and don't be intimidated by anyone. Speak your mind even if you don't agree with someone, this is supposed to be a forum for opinions. If people want to look for an arguement let them look elsewhere. Be nice to everyone and if for somereason you can't be nice, be cool and move on....good luck to you and have lots of fun.

Welcome to myLot, yvette. Enjoy yourself here. There are some pretty great people to meet and get to know. I even learn a lot around here.
It is a little overwhelming at first. I recommend reading over the guidelines very well, then as you are looking around on the site things will begin to make more sense.
There are a few things you can do to try and increase your earnings. First, you really want to concentrate on quality, detailed discussions or responses~ avoid one liners. You can earn a little extra by unloading photos that tie in to your discussions. Rewarding "best responses" to people (found about each response you receive) is a good way to begin building your reputation on the board.
Happy myLotting!

I would recommend posting long interesting posts. MyLot pays for quality over quantity so make sure, for maximum earning, make sure your posts are at least 4-10 lines per post and make sure you are interested enough in the discussion to post a good response. Also make sure you add friends, that is a good way to earn more responses to your posts. I will add you as a friend now and respond to some of your discussions!

Hello yvette81 :) Welcome to mylot.
It seems Zukepr (as well as others) gave you some excellent advice to get you started and I can't think of anything more to add to hers.
But I just wanted to say hello and I wish you all the best here and in life :)

Hi there, I am a friend of katesmama. I just wanted to say welcome to mylot. all you have to do is first get you a avatar. it is just important to have something to look at besides that ugly green guy. then do what you just did, start asking question and make sure you start answering other peoples post. it is a give or take around here and i am going to wish you all the luck.

Hello Yvette :) you friend of katesmomma? i am her friend as well but iam more a fan of Kate than Brinda's friend LOL anyway welcome to mylot iam relatively new as well but you will be able to find your way around with a little help from all of us so dont worry. Stick to the guidelines of mylot - u can bend a bit ofcourse LOL but crossing the line will land in trouble bigtime. But the best thing is to have fun and not take every opinion seriously - i learnt that the hard way LOL anyway there are lot more fun people than the 'fun-spoilers' so have fun and happy mylotting :) Ano

Welcome to MyLot. I hope like me, you find this site both fun and helpful at times. All you need to do really is answer discussions and when you get an idea start a discussion of your own. And then, collect friends who feel you can relate to easily.. That's all I did, I learned as I went along. Pay careful attention to the guidelines so as to make sure that none of your discussions get deleted. :-)

Welcome to mylot. It is a really nice and interesting forum to belong to. You get to make a lot of friends from all over the world and share your interests, ideas and the likes. You also get paid for doing all that. You need to respond to discussions in order to earn money and make friends. You need to respond to discussions that you are sure you have knowledge to contribute to. You need to make sure there are no errors in spelling or grammar in your responses. You need to start discussions that are unique and interesting so other members can respond to them as well. You may upload photos to your discussions and responses and you could get referrals as well. You should make sure you read the guidelines so as not to do anything that is against them and it will be helpful to check the guidelines once in a while in case there are any changes or modifications to them. This could save you a lot of trouble. Welcome and have a nice time mylotting.
