I know some people who never bury grudges. They carry it with them for as long as they live and it may have disadvantages in the long run. Even after apology is offered, they never forget and it sad because as humans, we naturally make mistakes and hurt other people and we get hurt by others too. Some people can't even forgive.
When someone hurts me and they are truly sorry for what they have done, I forgive sincerely. I may not forget the experience but I hold no grudges, for me, past is past. We cannot change it but we can always carry on with our lives. Hurt is one thing that makes us who we are, it builds our character and helps us avoid mistakes in the future. Sometimes, I can't understand why some people can not forgive others.

I can hold grudges for decades when need be. Other times it is forgive and forget. It is when people hurt my friends that I get the most upset and I can hold a grudge against anyone that disses my hubby for life if need be.

I can say that I still can't really forget my old wound. I say I have forgiven them, but it's still there. So even if it's easy to say but it's hard to do. It is hard if you have badly hurt by another person. But I will always try to forgive and not to hold any grudge. I know that holding grudges are same as drinking poison but hoping another person to die, while in reality it's you who poisoned yourself by drinking it. Grudges are always bad for your health. But for me it's hard to forget other who has hurt me.

Sometimes it is much easier to forgive than it is at other times. It depends a lot on what the other person has done, and on who the other person is. Also it depends on whether this person has done the same thing repeatedly. As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I have a hard time putting something behind me when the same person keeps doing the same things repeatedly. I may hold a grudge against some people longer than others, even though I try not to.
