Some more useful tips for making money on My Lot.

Yesterday I posted a discussion on useful tips for increasing your earnings on My Lot. And, I'm not surprised that it got a good response. It's a topic lots of people are trying to figure out for themselves.
One of the reasons that I have found that my own personal earnings have gone down over time is that I have made some classic mistakes (against My Lot guidelines) and later had the money deducted from my daily earnings. If you break the rules, they don't pay you for it. So, you end up posting for hours for nothing. Best to stick to the safe path, follow the guidelines and play nice.
To keep your discussions or replies from getting deleted (and any earnings that you may have received for them) try these tips:
Don't respond to SPAM style discussions that request affiliate links. Don't post your affiliate links (those discussions and replies will just get deleted. Or, at least most do eventually.)
If you want to share a link, refer others to your My Lot profile page where you have your links posted. That's why you have a profile page, so that you can network with others.
Don't get involved in arguments or controversy. If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all. Let the My Lot police take care of the trouble-makers. Or, better yet, click the "report" button and do it for them. The offender won't get paid. And, if you bother replying to the offending discussion, and the discussion gets deleted later, you won't get any money for your response.
Are you getting the picture yet? If you respond to a discussion that is later deleted, your earnings from posting the reply get deleted too!
Try to add something substantial every time you respond to a discussion. One liners rarely make you any friends and certainly won't earn you any money. It says so in the My Lot guidelines.
Do more than say, "Wow! I didn't know that." That one liner will get you nowhere. It adds nothing to the discussion. Not that you are guilty of one liners. But, if you are, then it's probably the reason for lower earnings.
Another member suggested trying 2 to 3 paragraphs per response. I tried it, but found that I made very little money for the effort. And, it took too much time to type that much.
My best advice would be to post more discussions. Again, make sure that you post 2 to 3 paragraphs for each discussion. Whenever I post a detailed and interesting discussion that draws lots of responses on it's first day, my earnings go up. I am not saying that is the secret to the My Lot earnings algorithm. Perhaps it is just a glitch. But, it couldn't hurt to try!
Don't post one liner discussions! About two weeks ago, I posted nearly fifty one liner discussions and practically got nothing for the effort. And, I can't blame My Lot for not wanting to pay me money for such a lousy effort. I'll admit it, I could have done better. Since then, I am always sure to flesh out the discussion with as many extra details and opinions as I can think of.
When you post discussions of your own, be sure to include your own personal experience on the subject and/or personal anecdotes. And, be as wordy as possible!
Just a couple tips I picked up along the way.
Hope they help you earn more money!

I just have to thank you a lot about these information. I was breaking some rules and I didn`t know that. Like the affiliate links.
As for initiating discussions, I thought that I had only to answer the discussions, not begin new ones.
Ok, I`ll do that and see what happens.

Posting your own discussions really pays well! I can't emphasize that enough. Lots of people here think it's too much trouble to be bothered with, but it's not. Just do a comparison test and you'll see what I mean. On one day post nothing but discussions and on the next respond to your friends discussions. Also, make a mental note of your beginning number (the one next to your user name) at the beginning of the day. Compare that number each morning and that will tell you how many discussions were deleted the previous day. That will give you a better idea what pays and what doesn't.
If you get something deleted, don't worry. It may not be a discussion from the previous day, but one from earlier in the month. Hope that makes sense. Often they don't do general "house-keeping" until later in the month and that's when the offending discussions get deleted. Another tip, read the guidelines often, cause they are adding new rules all the time. Hope those tips help you out.
Thanks for taking a minute to post. I'm sure you'll do very well here.
P.S. Once every few days take a minute to update some of your own discussions with replies of your own and that will signifigantly increase your earnings as well.

Thanks once again for sharing tips such as these. I learned early on that one cannot post affiliate links and yet I still see many people doing it.
I look at this as a way to network with potential affiliates for other programs as well as a way to make new friend.
I try to be as wordy as possible and still be concise in my answers or in starting new discussions. After all I don't want to lose people by being too wordy.

I took your advice on posting two to three paragraph discussions and since then, my earnings have started to go back up. Thanks! Not so hard to work on my lot anymore. Always good ideas when you're around. Appreciate your take on the situation.

Thanks, this is very helpful to me. I will try to keep track of this and refer back to it, on occasion. I answered a discussion earlier, and only replied with one line, before I realized it. I normally try to write more, but was in a hurry. Shame on me. Thanks again.

That happens to me too! Often if I am just visiting a My lot friend's discussion I won't keep track of my response length and will only end up posting two or three lines versus two or three paragraphs! I am sure that I don't get paid for those. But, my friend gets paid more just because I have taken the time to respond. And, later she returns the favor for me by dropping by my discussions. That is one of the tips that I did not post yesterday. Make lots of friends and post to their discussions at least once a week and most times they will return the same favor when you post your own discussions. And, that is when you will make some serious money on My Lot! Best of luck with future posts. Hope these tips helped! Drop by my posts anytime.

This is great, I missed your first discussion but I'll hunt for it in a minute. These are great tips that I really didn't even think about myself. Especially helpfull at a time when I'm trying to make payout before the end of the month.
Oh and the affliate link thing is so true, I noticed since I stopped posting it and just left a few on my profile, not only has my earnings gone up but I've gotten more referrals at those sites then when I posted a link. I think people appreciate it more if you can send them to where they can read a bit and then decide then if you just say here join this.
Longer discussions is good too. Lately I've been really long winded, so it's more like trying to contain myself from posts and responds that are too long, lol.
Thanks again!

Very helpful hints that you mentioned here. I feel that your suggestions hold good for everyone. I have always tried to post quality discussions and would not entertain those one liners for a response from my side. How great it would have been if all myLot people engage themselves in fruitful discussions and post lively responses and add healthy comments.
