Do you need time to decompress after you go shopping?

When I was a teen shopping was a really fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Dozens of mall shops to explore and always a new deal around every corner! But, now it's just a big hassle. Dealing with thousands of coupon clipping, bargain seeking shoppers always leaves me feeling drained and tired. Not like the good old days Most days I would prefer to stay home and shop the deals online than go out to face that mess.
And, if I do go out to the malls or big Super Marts, I have to decompress once I get back home. Sometimes I feel so tired after a big shopping trip that I have to go to bed. Guess it's just my brain's way of getting back to normal after dealing with the maddening crowds.
How about you? Do you find shopping in big stores and malls to be a stressful or rejuvenating situation? Do you find that you have to decompress when you get back from your shopping trip? Or, do you feel energized and ready to take on new tasks?

As long as it isn't just me and my son, I'm fine even after shopping for several hours, for the most part. Now if it's just me and my toddler, we both get tired and cranky pretty quickly! lol
I don't find shopping as fun as I used to, though. I think that part of it might be just because now, I don't have as much extra money to spend. I have to watch things more closely, so we can still pay all of our bills. While I was still working, that was never really a problem. We kept cash to spend on things that we just wanted. Now we don't have that. It does make shopping less fun.
I also usually prefer to shop online for most things. You can find excellent deals, and I love getting packages in the mail. It's so much easier than dealing with crowds of people, and I can do it while my son is safely playing in the basement with me, or while he's upstairs asleep in his own bed.

I'm the same way when it comes to finding deals online! I just love shopping Ebay. And, the other day I found a website that sells really yummy tasting gourmet food mixxes online. I'm definitely shopping there again.

Shopping has become my biggest enemy here lately. I hate going shopping. Especially when we go to superstores like Wal-Mart. It doesn't matter what time of day we go Wal-Mart is ALWAYS busy. It drives me crazy having to fight the crowds. I'm a little better about dealing with it when I don't have my daughter. That way at least I can concentrate on what I came to the store for and not have to worry about her getting tired or fussy. But most times when I get home from the store I'm just ready to sleep.

I hear you! That is the same way with me. I am very lucky that my spouse doesn't mind babysitting when I crash and have to take a nap.

I used to love going shopping sweets but I can't stay on my feet or walk far enough now sweets! The other half does it now or I shop online - apart from the grocery shopping which I usually manage to help with as I can lean on the trolley (cart) as we go round! xxx

Dear beautyqueen26, When you were young you had the interest to explore the things. It was giving you a lot of happiness. Now as you said there are so many things involved while shopping you do not feel the pleasantness. Same is the case with me. I also agree with you that now a day after shopping trip I feel completely tired. It also happen some days I feel happy after doing shopping with my daughter. She likes to go to different shop for purchasing even a small things. Those days I feel happy but in case I go alone I feel depressed.

I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to enjoy the shopping experience. Then we will have some real fun at the malls and shops. My poor credit cards! My spouse will have a fit when he sees the bills. LOL!

I actually find that a lot of the time, I will go shopping in an attempt to decompress, after a rough day at work. Unfortunately, a lot of shopping trips don't really help me to decompress much. Between driving, dealing with the crowds, and dealing with the employees, it can be really frustrating.

dont take shopping as a big thing for which u have to prepare urself , go out there in markets , and face shopkeepers , bargain and all that stuff. take it as some thing, u will enjoy.just go with the flow. sometimes in weekends, go out to buy urself something, and sometimes just be in home. ONly point is that , u should take shopping as a means to have fun, and u should enjoy it.so when u will be back home, u will not be stressed of the full day u spent in shopping but u will feel gud, that ya i have a wonderful time out there. THink abt it..... take care.

I find it fun to go shopping for anything but groceries. If I come home tired, it is a happy tired. But if I'm going shopping for groceries, then it is a whole different ballgame, LOL. When I come home, I'm fatigued, I usually have a slight headache, and I feel like I need to shower. I guess it is because I handle so many things as I shop. I'm not hot and sweaty, I just feel the need to be clean. Weird, huh?

I used to love shopping, my mother and I would go out about 10am and come home about 10pm and I'd be fine. Not to mention those were the "I'm too cute for comfort" days, so everything I was wearing was uncomfortable and of course I had to wear cute shoes that were always a few inches too high.
I still love to shop but I can't handle all day shopping. Usually now we'll go out in the afternoon, maybe around 2 and be back anywhere from 6-8pm. And we'll both be so tired. However the past few weeks we're lucky if we can make it through an hour at the grocery store w/out just wanting to leave the cart there and come home if there's a long line. I do not have the energy to deal with the crowds, the long check out lines, then having to pack it all in the car then having to bring it all inside and then having to put it away. By the end of it all, I just want a nap, lol.

For me if I'm alone or with a friend its fine. But if I have hubby or kids I usually am ready to pull my hair out afterwards. And I hate grocery shopping!!!
