I know of two people in the last month who have bought record players, can you imagine that records are back, after all these years and all the modern technoligy records are making a come back, just goes to prove you shouldn't chuck anything out, everything comes back into fashion.

Thats good news.
We have lots of those big ones and those ones whe I was younger.
At first we thought its not important we played with it as if its a flying saucer. Mother was really furios. It was an honest mistake for we didnt actually now what it was for.

I know what you mean lilaclady - if you keep something long enough, it will come back into fashion! I got rid of a lot of my old records, keeping a select few, and I still have a record player on my stereo system. But will they start producing records again? That is the question my friend!

Yes. West Coast bands have been producing limited quantities on vinyl and the trend is slowly growing.
... and I finally got a linear tracking turntable from a yard sale.

If that's the case, I hate to see when leisure suits and platform shoes come back in style.
I may have to go find a record player now.

we bought one for our youngest son Ross a couple of months ago , he had a lot of our old records and he is a great Elvis fan and has lots of his too , we had some 45 's too , we have had some great fun playing them all , we had so many we had forgotten about , we were all singing along . we still have an old dansette in the cupboard somewhere but I think the needle was broken , it would probably cost as much just for that lol xx

So much new technology. I rarely use my stereo, I can't remember the last time I turned on the radio. My old stereo is complete with a turntable, radio, double cassette player, amp and single CD player. Many times I've thought of replacing it with a new small compact CD type player, but what would I do with my vinyl records? That's the main reason I've not replaced it.

Goodness... I used to have such a great collection of records...some real vintage ones...like the original Beatles albums from the 60s...some --gasps--bootleg Rolling Stones...my mom had quite a collection to..rare 78's --but then it got harder and harder to find needles for my old stereo system and not only threw away the record player, but records as well...drat!!

I wish I had known that, I just sold my old all in one a few weeks ago. They must be making the records more durable. The only vinyl ones tends to scratch and break easily. I still have some vinyl records stored at my parents' home.

How interewting that is...I hadn't heard of people going back to record players. However I love shopping in thrift stores and there are always lots of old black vinyl records there. I agree with you about everything having a cyclical pattern of the old becoming new again.
So there is good new for all those clutter bugs out there...maybe your habit of stuffing and collecting isn't so bad afterall.LOL

Yup I remember those records we used to have them when I was a kid, my brother used to collect them before. I remember the spandau ballet's album which my brother used to play over and over again before. Lolz.. I think I have seen some store here who sell turntable record players and albums so there must be a lot of people still buying and collecting them. :-)

I've never been able to survive without a turntable... there's just some-
thing about vinyl and setting a needle on it!! Takes me back, and in a good way! I have about a hundred albums, and a good-sized box of 45's... I also have a jukebox, but it needs repair--- its SO 1950's and I LOVE it!!

I know few people who collect records. I don't think they are listening to, just for collection.....you can buy those records for 25 C or less per piece at flea markets...

well , i really doubt the use of it , not counting the decorative value of it. For the rest , why would someone buy a record player? exept for if you want to become a DJ and you are willing to scratch , whats the use of a record player? its very expensive , and the needles are even more plus it is very sensitive.
so , i dont see the use of it , exept for decorative and emotional value:)
