Which HairSpray movie do you prefer? The 1988 or 2007?

Me personally I liked the current one with Nikki. I did like Ricki Lake playing Tracy too but preferred the 2007. I watched that one first then saw the original.. It showed me why at the end she has straight hair and not the big bob when she dances. I had wondered about that.. In the orginial they show her straightening it with an iron, a real clothers iron. One thing that I did not get is why they didn't show more kissing between Tracy and Link like in the original. I had heard that they kiss and was doubting it because it never showed until the ending.... Love to here any reponses you guys have and to know which one you like better out of the two...

I like the cast in the new one better, they just seem to add a lot more life to the movie then the original cast ever could.

I love the new one but I'm kind of biased as it's the first one I've seen. The 1988 version was on cable last week and I watched it for about half an hour and couldn't stand it so I turned it off. I love the new version and will be buying it when it comes out on DVD. Loved the songs, loved Nikki.

I saw some things that weren't explained in the new one in the old one and in my head I am going OOOOhhhhhh, thats why ...... for certain things in the new one...Loved the songs in the new one last time I saw the movie was a week ago and I stgill have the songs in my head... I am kinda half and half with the original version and the 2007 version of the Hairspray movie. I really wish that the 2007 version had kepted the scene when Tracy and the gang ran into the house with the beatniks. As well as the scene at the Fair, but I guess the movie producers where trying to make sure that people of todays generation would understand the issues.

I definitely liked the new one better. I wasn't that big of a fan of the older one. The new one I LOVED. They had a great cast that worked really well together. I still can't get those songs out of my head =)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the new one. The first one would have been good if I had seen it first but I didn't and wasn't too impressed by it.. The new one TOTALLY blew it out of the water. That's my new all time FAVOURITE movie. It's SO awesome. I freakin LOVE John Travolta. And they totally didn't make a big enough deal about Link in the first one. I'm also a HUGE fan of Amanda Bynes (Penny Pingleton in the new one) so it was awesome that she was in it too. Yay Hairspray!!!!

I liked the new one much better. I haven't seen the 1988 version in many years, but I recognized a sweetness to the 2007 version that I didn't feel in the Rikki Lake version. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great!
