well i used to play video games a lot and then i had to get glasses.. i'm not saying that's the reason but it could be, i use to draw a lot to very detailed stuff and my face was always really close to the paper so i could see it better. I guess just straining your eyes in any way is bad for them.

I think you might be right.. The reason why I asked the question is because my son always watches tv and plays his video games.. he does take breaks from them though I mean he goes outside and stuff.. But I am wondering if one day he will need glasses from watching tv and doing his game stuff... like I kinda said in the post above I am wondering if it passed down from the parents.. Thanks for your reply!!

i thought about this recently and i imagined that our eyes will evolve and adjust to the constant screen image, if u look to the future this will be what our children will be constantly in front of the body (eyes) will have to evolve to cope. i must say i much prefer tired eyes from a book rather than tv or screen. but the answer to your question yes i do believe they are bad for your eyes

Hi,
For many years I was actually addicted to on-line gaming. From experience I can tell you that it does certainly have a negative effect on the eyes (as well as many other things). However, like everything, if you do it in moderation the effect will not be that bad. T.V. has never effected me the same way as video gaming, and I think this has to do with the distance from the screen.
cheers,

I think so too.. As long as your face isn't right close up you should be ok but than again if it's to far away you have problems seeing.. I can keep a distance from the screen and still be able to see but if I go back more I have problems seeing.. Staring at my screen though does make my eyes tired, Though I am sure it happens to everyone though.. Thanks for your reply!

Too much of anything is bad. You should enforce a restriction on your son and husband to have at least an hour rest from the TV and computer after say, 3-4 hours of countinuous watching and playing.

I agree.. My son seems to be good at his breaks from both my husband does work all day so he's really not sitting in front of it.. He loves his tv though.. I will admit I do also but I can't sit and watch it all day long.. Now for me and computer I can sit all day in front of it but I need breaks too.. To much computer gives me a headache and I know than I had way to much... Thanks for your reply!!

to my opinion it doesn't affect our eyes.
but looking at the screen without moving your eyes and sitting like dumbo affects your vision.so take care of your eyes which are one of the beautiful god's gift.

I think everything we do should be reasonable and moderate. It will be find if spending less than 3 hours per day to watch TV or play video games. But it will be better have a 10 minutes break per every hour. Children’s eyes are more sensitive as they are not matured and settled yet. Parents should keep close eyes to monitor them. Besides, I would say it is worth of consulting the optician regarding this issue further.

It's not a problem as of yet but I was wanting to take some steps so that my son wouldn't have to get glasses like me and his dad have.. They can be annoying at time and it's annoying not being able to see sometimes too.. Thanks for your reply..

well, I think I think it depends on if they are using a CRT television screen or CRT monitor screen and if they are very close to it, it it is the case I think they would get some injury in them eyes with the time, but if they are keeping a reasonable distance from the television then it would be ok. Another thing is the time they are spending in front the computer or televisor. I do spend a lot of time in front my computer and when I had a old ctr screen. My eyes were getting really red and tired but when I bought my new LCD screen and setting up it with a low brightness. my eyes never again were in pain, I think the most important is keep a good distance between your eyes and the screen, a good thing to keep same your eyes is take a break from the computer screen every 30 minutes at less. if they are not getting them eyes tired then I think there is not a real problem but they would use a special glasses to filter the UV radiation as well.

you might be right too.. I do have dry eyes and wear glasses so of course my eyes are going to hurt from being dry and it really don't help when I am sitting here typing and reading and do my things.. The every 30 mins is good idea that's for sure but I do tend to sit longer though.. Some times an hour or so than I do move and do other things.. So you do have a good point thanks for your reply!

I have always heard that things should be done in moderation. It depends on how close he is to the monitor an how long he is playing the games for..I really don't know myself..I am thinking maybe he will get some eye strain, but unless he does it 24/7, I don't think there is a reason to worry..

I do know one thing and that he gets bored of his games pretty fast and he's like me gets frustrated fast too so he gives up alot.. he doesn't really sit close to the screen but close enough to see.. The tv though he does sit a distance away from that like the rest of us.. Maybe it's nothing to be concerned about but it does make me wonder... Thanks for your reply!!

If scatter my face to several portion and let me choose the best part that I like, i guess I wouldn't have choose any. I don't like them individually. Every part is so imperfect. Eye too small, noise so flat, eyelashes so short, eyebrow so unobvious, etc. I like my eyes best. I don't know why. I find it attractive, so cute:p. My next is my lips. I have full and pouty lips and I like it eversince when I was small. Well i think it could be my nose. U know why. First it entices me to the fragrance of the world and sence the reality and artificiality around. It gives me the sence of fragrance a meaning of my true name, it has a mark as a logo for tracing if i am ever lost, a special nose that is so carved that its a masterpiece for my popularity and yes indeed a nose to poke into matters where my friends are in danger or in depression.

Yeah, it is! After every play in computer or arcade video games i always had this eye strain that really bothers me. As if clouds block my sight. So i have to rub my eyes. And if i do, my eyes is irritated and then my sight becomes blurred. So i refrain fron playing so much. So i have to apply eye drops to moistened my eyes.
