Harry potter book 7 discussion

I had just recently read harry potter book 7... it was such a good book and admired it... I liked the ending thou; but it turned out to be just a revised edition and my friend has the original version. The story of the 2 version seemed to be a whole lot different.. Very frustrating. Well, has anybody read both? how do you guys find the book 7? is it good? w/c version do you like best?
