I was waiting for my cat to come in last night and had the back door open a few inches when I noticed the motion detector light come on. I went to the door to shut it when my cat cam in but it was not the cat but rather a family of 5 raccoons and as I watched silently one of the youngest ones almost came into the house. They are so cute but I do not wish them in the house because they get into everything. They did not see me so I started talking to them and they slowly moved off of the porch. My cat did not come home until 10:30 this morning. Has anything like this happened to you?

We used to have a cabin at the lake and there was always a mother raccoon and her babies that would come up to the porch anytime we were cooking anything. They never tried to come in and we couldn't get to close, but everyone always left food out for them, so they were just going from cabin to cabin to get free handouts! They are the cutest things, but you are right when they are in the house they go through everything! I had a pet raccoon for a few years before someone let him go. He was not as tame as some, and I got him at a pet store, and had to have the conservation department monitor him, but he was great fun while we had him. I bought him because they were going to put him down, and I didn't want that, but I was kind of glad when he got let go because they really do belong in the wild not in captivity. Before we moved to this rental house we had a lot of stray cats that ate on my porch and when I went to feed them a lot of times there would be possums out there and they would try to come in! They freak me out they are so wierd looking! Anyway, I hope they don't come in your house, you will have to be careful!

I used to have a momma raccoon that would come in for dinner. I would make me and my son dinner and make her a plate and sit it at the table with us. She would come in and get in her chair and eat dinner with us, then pack her babies food and go back out the door. I always left the door open for her when it was dinner time and left it open so she could go back out.
Also, I remember one time I had made a cake and sat in on my counter at night, my kids were sleeping so I was off to the tub. All of a sudden I heard something outside, so i wrap a towel around me and come out to see what is going on. I find a young raccoon opening my screen on the window trying to get in to get the cake. So, I cut him a piece and took it outside for him. He sat patiently waiting for it. He ate it and left.
I don't know why but wild animals are drawn to me. I had an infant baby raccoon for 6 months once, and turned him loose when he was ready. I have had wild birds that would land on me and let me pet them. Almost any animal will come to me, not sure why.

No that has never happened to me, I wish I had, I really love Racoons, unfortunatly they don't exist in Denmark - or well sometimes one or two of them come up form our southern borders but they are almost extinct in this part of the world.
