Guns with kids

My father wants to give my husband a shotgun. I told my dad Im not too comfortable with having guns in the house, mostly because we have a daughter now and plan on having more kids. The thing is, my dad loves his guns just as much as he loves his kids, and if he wants to give you one out of his OWN PERSONAL gun cabinet, you must be pretty darn special. It almost brought tears to my eyes knowing that my dad feels this way about my husband, especially because he's never liked any of my boyfriends and dreaded the day he had to give me away (first born, only girl - i have 3 brothers). What to do???
