Computers are used a lot and every internet user and Mylot member must be using PC often, so where in your house is your PC placed? Mine is in my bedroom so i can just switch onto it whenever i want. Sometimes i do downloading a lot so i just wake up early in the morning, queue up the downloads and go to sleep again. So it makes my job easier having PC in my room. Where you like to place the PC?

Well my PC is placed in our living room.In my family everybody need to work on a single PC.So for placing we thought it is better to placein living room. But am the person who spend most of my time near the computer than others. When i need to download anything i will switch on my PC when i take lunch or tiffen .Mydownloads are always small..so no need to have separate time.I cant download large files becoz my net connection doesnt suppot. It dont have high speed. So i save the links and download them from cafe or when i go to city.Smiles

You are the first one in this discussion to have justified use of PC in living room. While everyone wants privacy by keeping PC in their bedroom you have made it easy for everyone in your family to use the same computer by keeping it in the living room.
I know you can download large files with high speed broadband connection only as i too was on a dial up first then shifted to broadband. Its good, you can download large files from a cafe with a high speed connection and reserve the smaller downloads for your own connection.

Wow your computer must be really happy on getting its own bedroom LOL. But its good to keep in a separate and private place like your bedroom or your computer's new bedroom as you said !!!

Hey. Id like to have my PC in our room for that very reason of being able to use it at anytime, but our room is not that big... Our PC is currently situated in the lounge... I have two laptops, which one of them can be setup in our room I suppose...

Its makes things easier when you have computer in your own room or bedroom, you can use it anytime you want like i get up early in the morning sometimes to do a bit of fast downloading.
You should look to set up PC in your room for convenience. You don't need to set up laptops, they can be used anywhere... thats why they are called laptops.. right !!!

right in the house, next to the window.
I like to place it there because there are fresh air and a beautiful sight when you look right away.

Nice sight for you. I don't have that kind of view from my room but still i get fresh air, lol. Its good if you have it in your bedroom or even in other rooms if you are not looking for too much privacy.

Privacy might not be that good in dining room. You got a printer too, looks like you use your PC for business purpose a lot. You never thought of placing it in your own room, i've got mine in my bedroom so i can just get onto it whenever i want.

In my case, my laptop and my PC are placed in my own bedroom. So whenever anyone needs to work on either of the two, they have to disturb my privacy....lol
though I'm online mostly at nights,so it doesn't affect my sleep ...hehe!
yea...as a special mention...my PC was earlier in my dad's room...which was a lot scary at times as i could not work online at nights. ;(

Something is better than nothing, atleast now you don't have to be worried about working online at nights. You can easily put the laptop in your dad's room and that won't have your privacy disturbed as many times. I'm too online at nights doing a lot of downloading and always checking out Mylot and some other of my favourite websites ...... i will look to chat with you sometime at night, every chat buddy isn't online at night so looks like there is someone to chat at night too and not get bored.

I converted my spare bedroom into an office by setting up my computer and adding a few tables and a small filing cabinet. This has proven to be very convenient and it also stops my equipment from encumbering on other areas of the house.

Thats convenient to be having your computer room as that wouldn't splatter all the computer related things everywhere. I have mine in the bedroom and i like it that way, don't wanna make my bedroom to be like a office.

well in my house the computer is mostly used by me and also i have a laptop so all of them are in my room and the thing is the computer is not something which should be kept in a public place cause if you are working and some one something and some one comes to your house then all the work can be stopped by the fact that you cannot concentrate at that time.

Your own room gives you privacy and lets concentrate fully on the computer work. It makes things easier for sure as you can use the computer whenever you want. Public place never allows you any privacy or even concentration for that matter. I'm happy i have mine in my bedroom.

Thats a good thinking, you don't need to have a computer in bedroom coz u have it in the middle of your house lol. So that means you like to get onto computer from anywhere be it bedroom, kitchen or bath.... uhhhhmmmm not from there probably.

My computer is in the computer room which used to be my younger son's bedroom. He then moved to the second largest bedroom when my older son moved out. That is now the guest room. The computer room is at the edge of the hallway, and the master bedroom is on the right side, the guest room on the left a little ways down. This means, I can get up and get dressed, and after washing up, can go into the computer room, turn on my computer and start typing. I do not have a laptop, but when I have one, it can go anywhere.

Fast and quick, if its that way maybe still good enough for you. But computer room would allow you more privacy. Laptops would be best for you if you have so many rooms to go to so you can take it anywhere.

My main computer (the one I'm on now) is on a table next to the couch. I have another computer (my backup) that I use for games, video editing, etc. is at the other end of the couch. My husband's computer is on the floor next to his chair. His laptop (his backup) is next to the tv. He has another old laptop he uses for old games that he likes. Then we have a few more laying around upstairs that we use just for parts.

Now thats what we call a home for computers. Thats like a complete PC shop, LoL. Why you need so many PC's, you can just attach more hard disks if you feel you are short of disk space. So do you run a computer shop, maybe. But you can always keep specific hard disks for gaming, backup etc. whatever you like but keeping a separate computer is a quite new way uuhhhhhhmmmmmm .

i have placed my one and only computer in my bedroom so i can get easy access to it anytime i want. it's beside my bed which i can use for watching videos and listening to music. i feel more comfortable and more private when the pc is in my bedroom because i can surf, write or email and chat without anyone to disturb you. besides you can quickly turn it off and lie down to bed right away.

I too feel a lot more comfortable to have PC in my bedroom and as you said just quickly turn off and lie down on the bed again, i do this when i'm downloading early in the morning. We can even listen music and watch movies anytime we want so if anyone wants a private place for computers then your own bedroom is the best.

In our house, the computer is in the living room. It kindof annoys me, though, because of the placement of the computer there's no privacy towards anything you're doing on the computer.
I have a computer in my room as well, but it's not hooked up to the internet and doesn't really function all that well. It's an older computer. Not to say it's bad, but it's just older.
So yeah.

Yup Privacy is important too when you wanna do some private work. Its easy when you have computer in your own room, full privacy and no one to disturb your concentration so you too get it into your room quickly.
