Writer's block?

Most writers I have talked to get writer's block when they can't think of what to write, or they can think of what to write, but cannot bring themselves to sit down and start writing. It's as if there's an invisible force that prevents them from doing so.
I have a system where I discipline myself to write something (anything at all) in a (word document)every day. I date each entry and save it. It doesn't matter how rubbish it sounds, but it means that I stay in the habit of writing.
I am always aware if I am stuck of what to write, so I get a blank sheet of A4 and create a mind map. I just write down whatever comes into my mind, and draw a circle around each topic. I then join up the circles to what I feel is similar. The mind will continue thinking whether or not I know what to write and amongst those jumbled thoughts there will invariably be some decent ideas on what to write.
For my fiction stories, I first of all think of a character and give it a gender. Then I give the character a brief history about the major events that have happened to him/her. Then I give him/her a problem in the present, and think about how he/she is going to solve that problem.
Please feel free to share some of your ideas.

Writer's block is a myth mad to scare people into their little corners of reality rather than embarking on the great adventure of creativity. The only thing blocking you is your ow self doubt, once you let go of that the ink will flow. The best thing to do if you think you are blocked is take a step away and leave the room for a minute. Then when you retun, be it five minutes or an hour later start writing something completel different. Write whatever comes to mind even if it is nonsense and soon enough you'll start having ideas about what you were working on before. Wrier's block as it is call is caused by over focusing, IMHO, take a step back and ocus elsewhere and your mind will lead you back. If it doesn't it will probably lead you to a better story anyway. Problem solved either way.

Because I tend to write most about my life, I never run out of meterial, and I never get writer's block. If I just can't "be serious" I'll come over here and respond to a few discussions, and make some money in the process. LOL
