The ending is nice but I think many of the readers want something that is much greater than that. As for me, it is great because I wasn't expecting that Voldemort could get killed using Expelliarmus. But come to think of it, it somehow made sense because the greatest bad wizard ever born was killed using Harry's favorite and most used spell.

Yes ironic isn't it?Harry used a spell taught to him by Snape his most hated teacher to kill one of the most powerful wizards ever!To think he could have prevented all those people from getting killed if he and Voldemort had,had a go at each other sooner. In case I'm mistaken, Snape taught unintentionally taught Harry the Expelliarmus spell during that Wizard's Duel scene in The Chamber of Secrets

Bloodthristy Voldermort kills with a pure killing curse, but the humble protagonist only does what's neccesary. The entire twist with the wands is genuis on Rowling's part. You're not mistaken Chatelaine, Harry did indeed witness Snape perform that spell in the dueling chapter (against that bumbling Lockheart).

i didn't like it at all... maybe it's because i'm a harry and hermione fan and would love to see them get together. or rather i think the movie characters like emme watson and daniel radcliffe has had me hooked to the harry and hermione pairing. so i was pretty disappointed with the ending. i felt tt if JKR has left out the epilogue then i think the book would be nicer. but overall the last book is still fantastic and action packed.

In rationality, it's not a dislikable ending. Hermonie and Harry would have made a great, intellectual pairing, but in the end, they chose to love each other as friends. And Ron is not at all a bad choice for a husband, he was the character who displayed his loyalty, growth, and redemption in the seventh book. And the favoritism of pairings is really what leads to FanDumb. It's unhealthy and leads readers to possessing bias against a viable conclusion.

Well, the ending wasn't really unexpected. Some of the things in the story were a bit ott... Like Gringots. I'm trying my best to not put in spoliers XD....

Well the ending was a bit unexpected...I thought Harry was going to sacrifice himself for the greater good then get reborn or something (I'm into the whole reincarnation thing). Turns out he grows into a middle aged guy with kids!!!Wonder how they are going to do that scene in the movie?Get some old guy to play the older version of Harry or Daniel Radcliffe with lots of make me old make up? And he ends up with Ginny! That scene with Malfoy, the book didn't mention who he married since he also has a kid I assumed he married Pansy something or other. At least Harry and Malfoy were civil to each other and not outright enemies like they were as kids/teenagers.

Lovely, splendid. I don't mind if Harry ends up with Ginny and Hermonie with Ron. The ending gets a lot of flack for being a classical fanfiction ending, but I loved it. The characters themselves worked and worked for it: Hermonine through her intelligence, Ron through his loyalty and his eventual growth, and Harry through his struggles and love for others. We have witnesses the transition to the lighthearted fantasy of the first book to the brutally honest and dark reality of the last book.
