What do you grow in your garden? I grow some potatoes, onions, broccoli, cabbage, red peppers, tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers and sweet corn. I love fresh vegetables so love having a garden to have them fresh. I froze some broccoli already and canned 10 pints of green beans yesterday. We haven't had much rain so have had to water alot to keep things growing and they don't grow as good as with water from mother nature. So do tell what you grow in your garden. I love to make salsa with my tomatoes too. Love to hear from all you gardeners out there.

Unfortunately I don't have the garden at this moment. I am living in an appartment, so it's not possible for us to have a garden. I wish I could have it one day. I like planting. If I had a garden, I would plant the fruits, vegetables and herbs.

I also planted pineapple and malunggay or horse raddish. I like stewed fresh vegetable and salad.

YOu do plant lots of veggies. I haven't heard of a lot of them though. My mother in law plants the egg plant so I don't need too. I planted sweet potatoes once and got alot of them. We love fresh veggies too.

Flowers are a good garden too I have some of those too. I am trying to get flower gardens to come up year round so don't have to plant every year. Would like to plant a few fruit trees someday.

We have a garden. However, this year it hasn't done to well due to the on-going draught conditions in our city. Our garden has squash, zucchini, tomatoes (3 types) , green peppers, jalepno peppers, and cucumbers. We have had a lot of squash, zucchini, and cucumbers, but the tomatos have not done well at all.

I hear you about the draught. I watered but not the same as water from mother nature. My sweet corn has noting on it. I am getting green beans but not as many as I would like to have. Hopefully next year will be better.

We have a garden, we have green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet corn. I like to pickle the cucumbers and the sweet corn I can live of off. We have a huge garden just for corn I think my family lives off that stuff for awhile. We like to grill it out on the grill. We are in need of rain to, last few nights we get a few storms and a small amount of rain, but every little bit helps. How do you make your own salsa?

I love to grill everything on grill on weekends less of a mess. Sure miss it during the winter months. My salsa is made from tomatoes, tomatoe paste, cumin, green peppers, onions, and jalepenos peppers. I think that is all. It is really good do add a little sugar and vinegar I believe.

Your discussion reminds me of my mother who is away at home(I stay very far away from home) and just loves kitchen gardening. We have almost all the vegetables we get in a particular season. We have lots of mango trees, lemon and other fruits also. Here, in my place, I keep mostly evergreen plants and little bit of onion and an exotic edible leaves in pots.

I have had gardens almost every year of my life since I was a teenager (I did not have one in the Army or a couple years when I was moving around a lot). But now I do try to have gardens. The weather up here in western "Taxachussetts" was bad this spring and that along with my MRSA (a resistant kind of bacteria on my legs) kept me from planting as early as I wanted to. I have some egg plants coming along and the beans are budding up. some of the corn is about 4 & 1/2 foot tall, the pumpkins, I do not think that I will get any because they are only about 2 foot across (the plants) and have not blossoms yet. I should start getting tomatoes within 2 to 3 weeks. Not a good year for the garden this year up here. It sounds like you are doing everything right, Do you do organic or do you fertilize with chemicals?

Yes I have had a garden now for about 6 years since we came back to Iowa. We lived in Florida for 13 years and was to busy to do a garden. I am not organic never really thought about it. I use miracle grow to fertilize with. Maybe will have to think about that next year. Been really dry here this year lucky to have what I do.

Well I am finally getting eggplants from my garden. The tomatoes are getting larger and should be ready to pick within a week or so. The peppers have blossoms but no fruits forming yet and my corn is tasseling up nicely, hopefully within a week of so I should be eating fresh corn off of the cob. The green beans took a beating during the last rainstorm and are now getting plenty of blossoms (who knows maybe some beans in the bushes that I have not seen). The squash and pumpkins have not started to flower yet so I may not get any but there is always next year for them. I may try to grow asparagus next year as well as strawberries (I will get a lot of organic materials in the ground where I wish them to grow)
