Hi 3lilangels, hope all is well. I have 7 tattoos in total and I honestly can't remember for the life of me how much I paid for them. I got most of them 10 years ago, and back then they were cheaper. I think my most expensive one would have to be the moon & stars that are on my chest bone. I think I paid around $80 for that one. I know I never paid over 100 for any, and I always gave a tip too! I do want to get another one on my shoulder blade. I want it to be of a teddy bear holding a rose with my daughters name and birthdate.

I thibnk the teddy bear is a cute idea too, & I think after having 7 tattoos I can tolerate the pain too! My tolerance for pain has always been quite high and that is why getting a tattoo has never bothered me!

most tatto places around where i live charge about $100 an hour...give or take...and usually charge extra if it's below the belt or in some other no no type place. The most expensive one I have is my fairy which cost $350. It was $50 to custom draw. $300 for the tattoo itself. It actually should have been $400 because they charged $100 an hour and it took 4 hours...but since you pay first and he estimated 3 .. he only charged $300...and didn't make me pay extra when it took an hour longer.

Most do give you breaks. Tattoo places like repeat customers and therefor giving you breaks gives them hope you'll come back. That tattoo place is owned by different people though and I don't know where my tattoo artist there went. I have 7 tattoos. I've gotten them at a few different places though.

All of my larger horror portrait tatts were in the $350 - $500 range...not too bad considering their size, detail and the fact that I spent about 7 hours in the chair for each one. If you haven't seen them yet you can check them out on my profile.

mine was £45 which worked out at about a pound for each minute it took. my partner had a beautiful detailed and colourful phoenix, which takes up most of his upper arm and a little of his shoulder, and that was just short of £300, and took 4 hours.

his phoenix is really beautiful. I made him a silk painting of it recently, which he has on the wall (he's been in hospital 3 months) mine is a bat. just plain black, solid shape, on my lower back.

I think the most expensive of my tattoos was my Eye of Horus, which is divided into small sections, each of which looks like a gemstone or polished glass. I think that one cost me $120, but I really can't recall for certain. It's about the size of the palm of my hand, maybe a bit bigger. I have four other tattoos, and I really don't remember the prices of most of them. I think that the pair of runes on my chest cost about $200 when it was all said and done, but those are two separate tattoos and they were initially done as outlines and later colored in.

$40 tattoo - This was my 1st tattoo.
Well, of the two that I have 1 of the cost me $40 including a tip. The other one... well... My ex traded some guitar gear to an artist in exchange for time in the chair which he used to get one of his sleeves done, but also 2 hours of the time was for my ankle tattoo. He gave the artist a $20 tip for it as well. So, a $600 guitar cabinet that he got free was worth about 8 hours of time (2 hours of which were mine). So in the end that one cost $20. I guess $40 is the most I've paid for a tattoo.

There are several I'm planning on getting actually. I have a drawing my little sister did for me that I want to have cleaned up a little and done as a tattoo, plus Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, a Colorado Avalanche tattoo, a Cruxshadows tattoo. My best friend and I are getting matching tattoos in 2 years, my sister and I are getting Fire and Ice Kanji tattoos next time we see each other. I'm also in the process of designing one centered around the tree of life. The rose tattoo is actually about 4 inches across, too. So it's not a tiny thing. It was fairly inexpensive because my best friend knew the artist, so he did it in his house at a very discounted rate.

I am getting ready to have my first tattoo done. It will be of a butterfly. My Sister is giving it to me as a gift for my 50th birthday. I believe the minimal cost will be $60. I hope not to go above $75. Even with her paying for it, I am too frugal to pay more.

i think that a tattoo doesn't deserve 350 or 450$, i think that there are somethings that are more important in life than burning billion of dollars in that cause there are a lot of people dieing because of hunger whereas some people are doing tattoos ;)

I have three tattoo's and I think the most expensive one was about $100. My other two were cheaper because one is an online of a star on my foot and another one I got done in Thailand for about half the price of what it would cost in America...I think it was around $70 or $80. I haven't really found a place in Seattle that does tattoo's for cheaper than $100 no matter how big. They usually charge by the hour and charge you full price even if you don't use the full hour.

I can't really remember I got my tattoo a little more than 10 years ago I think mine cost $250 maybe it wasn't that much but for some reason that's the price that's stuck in my head. Mine is a dreamcatcher on my shoulder.

The most I've ever paid is $80 but my next one will be about $200 which is a really good deal for how big its going to be, its going to go across my shoulders. My ankle was free (a butterfly) and my wrist (my sons name) and the back of m neck (celtic symbol for motherhood) I paid $80 for. My next one is two fairies ( one on each shoulder) sitting on flowers with butterflies surrounding them and connecting them, it sounds stupid but it looks really cool. TIP: never get a free tattoo.

i think that sounds really nice.somtimes you think a picture of something looks stupid but when you see it as a tattoo it looks great.especially with colors.its such a piece of art.no i will never get a free one i will stick to the place i go.even though they are a little bit more expensive,i know i trust them and its a extremely clean place.

I don't wear any tattoo. I want my body to be natural and don't want to manipulate it by any means. I just wonder to hear that you spent a lot for making your body unnatural :)

well i guess we all just have our own opions on them,to me they are art,and everyone i have i can hide if i had too.here in the states they are just more expensive i guess.some people get plastic surgeies and stuff where some have tatoos.but the tattoos doesnt make anyones body less beautiful in my eyes.thanks so much for responding.

thanks for your comment, your right that painting is beautiful, and a body with tattoos is just as beautiful.it doesnt change the beauty of it.beautiful can be alot of things to different people, and i respect your answer.thanks so much.

I am agreeable to your right to do what you want to do though I disagree with your opinion. My body is an art in itself and I believe nothing is needed to add to it. 'Monalisa' the painting, is a great work of art and I don't think it is wise to put a tattoo to add its beauty. I can appreciate the artistic part of the tattoo, but not in body. Thank you 3lilangel :)

I think I paid around a hundred bucks for mine. It's a rose with a small tribal design wrapped around the back of it and it's on my right shoulder.

I paid $60.00 about 10 years ago for a small teddy bear and had it removed a couple of years ago by laser surgery. You cannot even tell it was even there,no trace at all.I was young and wanted to do what my friends were doing and after found out it wasn't for me at all.I was ashamed of it and shy and worn shirts that would cover it up.For me,it was not,for others i admire them on them.:) I stick with stick on tattoos now, haha, that i put on my ankle and are mostly of ankle chains or a small butterfly with fairy wings. When I was sixteen I got a tattoo on my lower back. It is of a sun with my gemini sign in the middle. If I remember correctly we pair around $280 for the two. I am going to be getting one on my bicept of my sons symbol and him name and date of birth. Across the tops of my feet I am going to have his feet tated on, so it looks like he is walking across my feet. I am going to get a scripture, I am not sure of what to have put on my side, and a pixie behind my right ear. I have a friend who tattoos so hopefully for all of these I am only going to be looking at a few hindred bucks. I plan on getting many more than this, but I am not sure of what or where.
