Box Tops- How do they help schools?

My child just started Kindergarten this year and I was just wondering how Box Tops work

Box Top - Box Top
This is a box top. They can be found on cereal and snacks. My son recently won a small prize from a drawing they did at his school with these. So they help the schools and also motivate the kids to bring them in.

The school my son goes to collects these as well. Each school sets a goal. I thinkyou can sign up online and track how much the school has made so far and what the goal for the year is. By signing up online I thinkyou can earn extra points for the school. You may want to find out if there is anything else the school collects. There are many ways that schools earn cash - Community Coffee UPC's, Capbell Soup UPC's - that are easy to support.
