"Caps Lock" or "Shift", what would you prefer to use?

I am talking about the alphabets here. Only Upper case and lower case letters, no other characters like !@#$%^&*() etc. Just in case, if you have to type a short sentence of one line using UPPER CASE and LOWER CASE letters, how would you do it? Since characters are not involved, you are left with only two options; 1) Either you can press the "Caps Lock" key once, finish typing, then press the Caps Lock again to switch it off. OR 2) You can hold the "Shift" key all the while you are typing and take your finger out after you finish. I usually prefer using SHIFT for a short sentence of 1-2 lines because i'm more used to single-handed typing and so it does'nt bother me to engage my other hand in holding "shift" key. Even when i've to compose a short paragraph, i prefer using the "shift" key. I make use of "Caps Lock" only when i've a need to write a long paragraph of about 10-12 sentences. How about you? Also tell me, Whenever you use Shift, Which of the two "shift" keys do you use, the one on the RIGHT or the one on the LEFT? I type with the left hand, so i use the right hand SHIFT.

i personally prefer to use the shift key. i really never have a use for the caps locks key and, in fact, it gets in my way. i never type large amounts of capitalized words. Just a few here and there. i am accustomed to using the shift key. i type using all my finger, but it does not hinder me at all to have one little finger holding down the shift key.

When typing short sentences i use the shift key but when im typing long sentences i prefer to use caps lock much easier to type. I type with both hands but when typing with hand i use my right hand and then use the left shift key.

i prefer using shift key because i find caps lock a bit annoying.whenever i turn it on i always forget to switch it back to off. it's also more irritating in my case as i still have to look at the keyboard while typing(i know you must be thinking me a beginner lol) and when i raise up my head after typing the whole thing out one can imagine how mad i must be going to see all the text in UPPER CASE!! so it's just better for me to use "shift". it's the left one which is used more frequently by me!:)

I usually "SHIFT" key on the left side. I often see people using the right "SHIFT" key, and I think that's the proper way but I am comfortable of the one on the left. ~mar

do whatever you feel comfortable with, there is no such rule as we should use only "right shift" or only "left shift"

I am a guy who typing with my two hands,so if i use the key"Shift",it depends on the letter locates--the letter locates one the left side of keyboard,i use the right "Shift",or else,LEFT "shift" is available. But i think use the key"Caps Lock "is more convenient.

I love my cap lock key. Of course my roomie is blind so she also loves her cap lock key. I'd always write in caps, I find them easier to read, but some people are just too easily bent out of shape. She's got a program that doesn't allow her to blow up her font any more at work & so she uses caps to write notes. She had one moron that wrote & complained about it. She wrote him back her standard "excuse the caps, but they are easier for me to see" note & the jerk continued to complain until her boss sent him a note telling him to DEAL with it. Don't you know it was some GUY at the new call center in the Phillipines (no offence to my Filipino friends) that didn't like being corrected by a FEMALE & was finding any excuse to B*TCH!

It depends on how many letters i will be typing. If it requires long words or many letters, i used the CAPs Lock, but if it is just short i used Shift.

Most of the time I use the shift key. I use my both hand in typing and use left shift key. If it will be all capital letters then I use the caps lock.

I type with both hands, and I usually type pretty fast. If I need to type something with all capitals and it's longer than 2 or 3 words, I put on the Caps Lock, so that I can free up my pinkies.

of course i usually use "shift".because we often write"!@#$%^&*()"and so on ,but we don't often need to write all capital letters.so the frequence i use "shift" instead of "Caps Lock".the problem of right hand shift or left hand shift is an interesting problem.to me,i will use the "shift" which is nearer from the button i want to press .

I hardly type in CAPS. If I do I use the shift key. If I have to type a longer word or short sentence in CAPS I'll use Caps Lock. Like you I'm a leftie so I use the right Shift key. :)

what a co-incidence, even i was forced to write in right hand!, but the reason was a bit different. my parents did'nt know that i'm a leftie naturally, they thought i'm trying to follow someone who writes in left. They got to know only when a doctor told them...after that they did'nt force me..lol

i do the "Shift" keys for a single upper case letter, then "CAPS" for a long sentence which requires all caps. That's it...left shift, if letters will come from the left and right if letters will come from the right...i'm a good typist..hehehe. ; )

Dear I_LUV_U, I started my career as stenographer. I am good typist also. I do blind typing both figures and words. I have to use both the hand to type anything. It is very difficult for me to type with single hand. Whenever I have to have capital letter automatically, I press the shift. In case I have to type long sentenance in Capital letters then I use SHIFT. Numbers I type blindly and do not have any problem

I only ever use the Caps lock key at work because there's a bunch of things we have to do in all caps. But I never type enough.. more than maybe one or two words in caps on a normal basis outside of work so I usually always go with the shift key. Otherwise I'll forget I turned on the caps key and type everything in caps which is way too incredibly obnoxious.

I prefer using the shift key. but if i had to write a sentence that needs all block letters, then Caps lock is better. but sometimes if im in a hurry, and i forget to turn off the caps lock, the recipient of the email will think im shouting! bummer.
