Would you still respond to a discussion started by someone who doesn't give best response?
Do you think we should report that user? Is he/she violating any rules here?
I know sometimes it takes time for us to award and resolved those discussions but what if out of thousands of discussions he/she started yet no one ever get best response from her?
well, if he is not violating any rules..I guess that would be fine, but for me..I will not go to any of her discussions anymore.

I don't think it really matters.
I don't believe it improves your ranking here on Mylot.
I don't usually give best responses.
Mainly because everyone has their own opinion and no ones opinion should be judged better than anothers.
It's like awarding a prize to the best snowflake.

yeah..you had your point there, most of the time I wait months to award the best response too specially when responses are too many but still I give extra time to do it.Respondents deserves to be awarded and I think that will motivate them to do better and participate more.

It doesn't really bother me whether one has given best response or not. I will still post to their discussions if I have something to say or add. Maybe that user is not aware of selecting best response, why don't you have a word with her.

To be honest, I never check to see whether or discussions I have replied to have been given a best response.
I usually wait at least two weeks before I give a Best Respoonse. This is to give lots of people a chance to respond, not that many do sometimes..
It would take me far too long to check whether other people give best responses.
It is good manners, in my opinion, to give a best response.

The question is, is this person purposely not giving best responses or, or they not aware of how to do it or even that it needs to be done?
If I knew that person on Mylot, I would mention it to them and explain how to do it and that it needs to be done. I would not report them, as I would not feel like it was my place to do so.

well u haven't given a "best response" to anyone either!!!
LOL
well i don't take it too seriously.,... u see, there is not rule stating that one MUST give "best response" to all the discussions that they start! its just that they MAY do it if they want to... there is no compulsion..
whether u go to a discussion or not is your personal choice... but do u think u r being fair for not going there just because they don't give "best response"
if thats the case i needn't have replied to your discussion right??
think about it!

First of all I apologize to my friends on this topic because I have many discussion pending without best response. I do give best responses. But some discussions such as what's your liking, you share some of your knowledge or experience, in these cases everyone's response is unique as per his/her choice and no best can be selected, because all are good.
Sometimes it is time that prevents me to resolve discussions in time, but I try at least once a week to resolve some of my discussions.

It's ok..I too soemtimes leave my discussion for a month before giving the best response, but this one I notice never given any best response to any of her discussions, It's ok though..now I realized after reading all the responses here that It doesn't really matter to most of the users.

it is not a rule that u have to hand it out, so therefor there is no ude reporting this person. Some people might not just be able to choose one.. I do not really care-- Sure getting one and handing one out is nice - but i do not really care that much about it. We all do it differently =)

Yes I do respond to such discussions, in fact I prefer responding to somebody who don't judge my response. Neither do I rank responses. I think it does not matter much, no violation of rules etc.

Hey, that might be me, I think. Sorry, for that but I have recently started giving best replies. My net is quite slow but yet I mark best responses even though after quite a lot of time. Duh!
I will try my best but hey that might be someone else too. Might not be, I mean the one you noticed. :S

Hi there!!Ofcourse i too feel bad if somebody doesnt give best response to their discussions at all.I have few freinds who doesnt allot best response to their own discussions and never atleast one single comment. It is really frustrating me,I know it is not possible for most of the mylotters to give comment to every response they recieved but what about atleast one if there is some thing to say.I see such strange people here.Ofcourse i delay to give best response to some of my disscussions when i get more than 50 responses and most of them are good and deserve for the best response. For some of them i have taken nearly one month to allot best response.Smiles

Dear cefaz_21
I don't care much to know that the user award other members with best response or not .. If I like the discussion I will definitely respond to it .. irrespective of the best response .. When I start a discussion I give best response only if I find any good response on that .. otherwise I just let other members respond to it and whenever I find any good response I immediately mark it as best response. I don't think the person who is not giving anyone best response doing any kind of violation. I guess the member who gets best response earns $0.01 extra for it .. because I have received that amount many times whenever I get best response :)

I seldom give best response award for the reason that i might be wrong in my judgement, then it would be unfair for others.Well, atleast i'm reminded the importance of giving the "best response award".Thanks!

I don't put any stock in the "best response" ranking. I just start discussions for the responses I will get. They are all good. I respond to what is interesting, not worrying about how my response will be ranged. If I have something to say, I say it!!

I will not use best response as my preference to answer in discussions because it will waste my time in choosing to whom I should answer. I don't choose friends in this community, I will answer every question that I can handle, and in time the best responses I receive is from those that I am deserved to receive. Many of times I have received best responses and I am grateful to those persons. They make my life more cheerful. But to those who doesn't give me best responses, I don't mind and I will still answer their questions. I believe i should be open minded in this community. So far it works. Have a nice day, cefaz_21!

Yes, I will still respond to the one who has never given best response. I don't have a very high possibility to win the best response. However, I think this one should mark the best response to someone who deserves it. It'll encourage people to reply his/her discussions. And I think it'll be a nice behavior.

I have some that I haven't given best response to because I want everyone to get a chance to answer. I leave it on the boards for a week or so..Sometimes it is hard to give just 1 best response. I am finding this more and more now..I appreciate all the responses I get and hate just to choose only 1. I don't think it is a violation..Maybe they just can't decide...I wouldn't stop responded to them..

Maybe the person doesn't know about the "best responses." I didn't until I used this for a few weeks. It could be something that just slips their mind.
Does it really matter? Do they respond to the people who answer their discussions? Or do they just ask a question and never revisit that topic again?
I sometimes forget about questions that I asked and then see that I had a bunch of new answers or that I forgot to pick a best response.
If it bothers you, then don't respond to them anymore. That's okay.

I guess that's what bothers me amstardam, I think she only post and never get back to any of the discussions again, I don't see any responds or comments to people who answer her discussions too. I mean that is not also mandatory but most of us reacts on answers we got..right? maybe not to all of them but still..

Well, I think I know which user you are speaking of and I too have noticed that she seldomly responds to discussions she starts...maybe 1 out of her many responses. I didn't notice that she does not give best responses but looking at her questions, I saw that she does not do it. I rarely respond to her discussions unless she has a question that I really want to answer! :)
