well my friend i have a desktop and a laptop connected my two lan cards on desktop pc and one on the laptop. so my main net conncetion is on the desktop and with the second lan card on the desktopn i share the net and files. but when i switch of my main computer and then start it again all my network setting for laptops stop working. i have to re intall things to get the lan going again. can u help me in this

first tell me which operating system you are using.... as my think u using windows xp
so for that, you have to put static ip in all your landcard settings. it will shown you in control pannel than select network settings, and than select you lan card proprietor and there you see TCP/IP settings there you will put ip address.
let me know....if you cant understand
