Active myLot Members

Many times when myLotters are posting or responding to discussions regarding earnings the subject of how large total myLot membership is comes up. Other times it is with awe that discussion are started regarding the increase in membership during the 14 months since its conception in May 2006. Then comes the question..but how many of these members are active? I was very surprised to discover that actually we have a very low active participation. The figures are (at last count) 102,572 members ACTIVE members only 18,031 which is a low 17.5%. At least to me that seems low considering how large the participation is from countries outside the US.
Does this surprise you? Now the drop in earnings cannot be attributed to the high numbers of payouts each month. The same can be said regarding the number of quality posting. Any comments?

WOW that is a head scratcher to say the least. And Kuddos for finding these figures. I looked once before to no avail. So what is the reason I wonder then?

That seems to be just an interest added thingie. There are many MyLotters who did not update their interests. Maybe the other 80-some-odd MyLot users are secretly active? Maybe not. I don't know how many of the 105,572 are actually inactive, cancelled accounts, banned accounts or multi-accounts. But I would think that either many have not updated their interests, or something.
One of our mutual friends did point out that the drop in earnings is probably because of the prize payouts to contest winners. It did seem that timing of the drops in earnings does coincide with the contests. She was correct, becuase the earnings pretty much hit rock bottom almost right after the winners of the last contest were posted. These contests seem to be geared towards those select few who have abilities that many others do not have, & because we don't have many of those abilities that were needed to participate in the contests, we're being punished for it by lower earnings.

I think a lot of the members have dropped off now because of the low earnings , I know a lot of my friends have gone , and some were banned and they still don't know why , I think too pal that a lot of them were people who had friends as thir referrals and they never actually started to write anything , I have 15 and only 1 is active , I am sure if they took all of the people who havn't been active for some time off , that the number would take a huge drop . I myself love it here and I have no plans to leave but how long do you think the site will last if only a few people are active ? xxxxx

I keep coming back because of my friends and I don't want to let them down but as this is a paying site I dont think it will last very long if it is not more active.

Wow that is a surprize! thought there were more active people on here so if they arent active why join?
I have noticed that some that do post do just a question and then dont respond back to the responces it is like they are trying to post more than quality

That is an interesting average! Maybe many members are inactive or have left the site. I personally find MyLot very interesting and I have been a member for 6 weeks. I always find discussions or news items to comment on but at times get bored due to the lack of response to some posts. I really don't understand the earning system so its hard to comment on it, but it is very low for the amount of time used to creat discussions or respond to others.

actually i m new user here.. i joined just day before yesterday.. thats why i didnt get much what you are talking about.. but i got a fact that the active members here are very less.. that could be due to the fact that in the starting it looks very lucrative that you will earn while taking part in discussions and start new topics, but as the time goes by, some people might not find it that fruitful, so they become inactive, also there might be shortage of time..

That is an interesting link you have sent us to. I have at least one friend that I thought had left, but she must have deleted me, or turned my notify off. I found her on the pages. How did you find that, anyway? I find that with the payout so low right now, I am not nearly so motivated to keep on tap tap tapping at my keyboard. I did find some interesting discussions tonight, linked by tags to some my friends started, so it is a good evening.

I'm not surprised that the number of active members are as low as that (although it actually mentions in the header 'The number of members who visit regularly), so I suppose there could be members who only visit occasionally - Perhaps only once or twice a month.
I have read a lot of people have referrals but none of them are active - I have 3 myself, all joined 8 months ago, and between them they posted 1 response and never started any discussions so I don't even see why they are kept on MyLot they are just wasting space.
I would have thought that MyLot would clear out non active members regularly (say after 6 months). Some of the other sites I've been on reject you after a fortnight of nan-activity (you have to notify them if you go on holiday).

How in the world did you find out how many were active???? And yes that is a good question if there are so few active members then why the drop in payout---- maybe someone is getting greedy???? Maybe they are not doing well money wise??? who knows everthing else is a mystery as far as they are concerned why not this too???? The only thing thats not a mystery is all the stuff you CAN"T do on here!!!!

I've thought about this often. I feel that if they ban a person that persons profile should be deleted and so the count should reflect that.
Also members who have not logged in in over three months should be removed from the count.
Actually the count should reflect ONLY active members!
I am pretty sure the high count is not the reason for the poor pay. I have noticed a decrease in topics I want to respond to!

Hello whiteheather39!
What little understanding I have is that it is not the list of actually active mylot members. It is just the list of users who belong to this interest group. Like for example, the top user of this site who is still active isn't listed in this list, just because she hasn't added this interest category as her interest. Similarly there are other active members who aren't included in the list. And then there are members who were banned ages ago like the fourth user in the list and he is still included in the list.
Decrease in income can be because of two reasons. One has to do with the contests that mylot recently held and paid lump sum to the users who participated and won. The other more crucial reason which was probably the cause of mylot to initiate these contests has to do with low traffic that mylot is getting these days and for the last few months. A member shared a very interesting piece about the traffic that mylot has been getting, see the link below:
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=www.mylot.com
You can see in this link that mylot traffic was highest in end February and then gradually decreased. It again got some traffic right after the first contest (video contest). So, decreased traffic means decreased income for mylot and hence for the users. I hope it explains why we are being paid less now!

Very interesting link. According to that link there were only 7,014 active members on Sunday August 7th. so the 105 odd thousand is wildly inflated. That is even less than I expected. Thank you for your help.

To me it is only common sense that people who intend to be active on the myLot website would automatically add that to their list. Sorry if it is not absolutely correct but I still think it is pretty close.

oh man.....I never bother either low/high or local/international membership. Because I'm not paid by mylot for that such an analytical job.
The one who should be thinking as what you've thoughts is the owner of this mylot's web.
If you want to keep on thinking like that, you are advice to buy one giant server and do the same thing as what mylot have done. Certainly make money...
If I'm a billionaire I will own one casino rather than be a gambler. It surely makes me trillionaire, whereas gambler will never make it...because they like to gamble around and none of them intend to be the owner.

Oh man..... I can't help it if such analytical thoughts just come naturally to my genius mind without even having to think much. I already have a giant server and have made more than a billion already I just do analytical computations to relax. So your advice is really quite unnecessary.

Hi Whitefeather, you are right, I think most of the long time members are not as active because the drop in earnings, alot of people have lacked coming to this site, I am not even that active anymore I come here when I can. I have been here for almost a year, Oct 5th. Mylot is not like it used to be! you get a lot of information though. Thats pricless!

All that the link you provided shows is that those members have
added this as an interest to their page. It does not sahow or r
epresent the amount of active members. I know it's low but not
as low as 17 percent I think. HAHAHA!!
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Also after looking at the link further there are many
members that are NOT active in this interest category
or some that have even been banned etc from mylot.

This doesn't surprise me.When I first joined, earnings were quite good. Any referral's I got tried for a bit. Of course, many, many people want to earn a quick buck, which isn't going to happen on My Lot, even in the good times.
So that would account partly for the low active participation rate.
For a couple of months at least, the earnings have dropped alarmingly. I am fairly confident that would account for the rest of the low participatioin rate. So, yes, I can't see how anyone can say that the pathetic earnings are due to high numbers.
Quality postings!! Lets say that I have resorted to hot topics, to find discussions to respond to. I can not respond to mulitple discussions, from one person that are one liners.
