Migrane Strikes Woman at Dawn on Her 50th Birthday!

I woke this morning with a pounding headache. I could barely lift my head. Hubby kissed me and wished me a happy birthday as he was getting out of bed. I set my clock for 7:00 and went back to sleep. When I woke, the pain was worse. I was nauseous, and sensitive to light and odors. I have had migraines in the past and knew that this was just that.
My thought was that I would feel better once I got into the shower. I was wrong. I felt worse. I called work and told them that I would have to cancel at least my first visit this morning. After downing a couple of ibuprofen, I headed back to the comfort of my bed. The phone woke me an hour later. A good friend was calling to wish me a happy birthday. The call was brief and I immediately went back to sleep.
I woke a few minutes ago and I do feel somewhat better. My head is still fuzzy, my eyes ache and I am still a bit weakened from the punch of the migraine. I tried to trick myself into believing that I could pull a full day of work. My body is telling me different. Hopefully I will be able to work the afternoon. I hate to miss work, even when I am sick.
So, for now I guess I will go sit in my chaise lounge in my garden for a while and see if I can shake the remains of this biach of a migraine.
I thought turning 50 wouldn't be a painful event, but thanks to this migraine, I was wrong.

Oh girl, I am so very sorry. See, birthdays are supposed to come in with a 'bang.'Your head apparently didn't get the memo and thought that a 'pounding' headache would suffice. I do hope it eases off and that you can enjoy the rest of your special day. Perhaps your head knows more than you and has an ultimate plan, once you call off work...it will ease! Perhaps it feels that no girl should work on her special day! Ha!

Well you could look at it like this, it's most likely all that wisdom you have gained, running out of room in there. :oD
Happy birthday! I hope that migraine leaves and you have a wonderful super day!????

It is now a little after 1:00 and the nagging thud in my head is finally gone. I am still a bit fuzzy though. I like your wisdom regarding this! It made me laugh. How did you do those hearts?

Just a note on the ????, you hold the ALt button in and press 3 then leave the ALT button and the heart appears, I use windows XP. I know it is 3months later so you have probably got your answer to this anyway. I was actually reading about the migrains.

Happy Birthday my dear friend. I am sorry to hear that you had a migraine on your special day. It is terrible that you are hurting and hope that you are resting and taking it easy. Take a break from the computer. Maybe that will help. I hate migraines and they seem to happen at the worst times.

Try taking some magnesium or magnesium calcium if you have it. Or the latest thing that they keep e-mailing is to drink two glasses of Gatorade ( about half a quart), again it is the minerals, the electrolytes that it replaces that is the real help. I used to wake up with those awful headaches about four times a year. I started taking magnesium and eating more seafood, and I have not had one that bad in several years. I still get some headaches, but not the nauseous, eye blurring kind. Happy birthday, dear friend, and I hope you feel better this afternoon.

I didn't take my vitamins and supplements this morning. I should have taken them as I do have magnesium calcium. Funny thing is, I had a bottle of Vitamin Water which is similar to Gatorade, last night.

This is bad luck. I have never had a migraine, but my first husband used to, & I know how terrible they are.
Do you know what triggered it? Was it something to do with your party yesterday? Overdoing it perhaps!
You may need to take the whole day ooff work. It's no good forcing yourself, if the migraine is not completely gone.
I'm sorry I can't offer any advice in curing it.

Am really sorry to hear about your migraine. I know exactly what you're speaking of. Maybe you'll be able to take the whole day to rest, and enjoy your big day. I'm sure they'd understand (at your work). Trust you'll feel better soon, and happy birthday.

I'm sure they know you're a good worker, so surely they wouldn't think this. It's pretty hard to do a job, when a person's feeling this bad.
