Do you ever post a discussion on a touchy or controversial topic because you think it will get you more responses, thus more money? Not that you have any real interest in the subject, you just think people will pounce on your discussion and your opinion. I never have, but as I read through some of the discussions, I think there are those that do it. Not that I think there is anything wrong with it, I was just curious.

I don't post many discussions, preferring to respond to other people's postings.
I much prefer a discussion which offers many alternative viewpoints, and have replied to a number. Then I have been surprised that the original poster presumably has not returned to read the responses. At least he/she has not commented on any of the responses. One would think that if the poster was interested enough in the topic to post a discussion, he/she would return often to check out other people's views.
I guess we can only conclude the discussion was posted to earn money. I take note of people who never comment on their own discussions and ignore future postings.

Sometimes it takes me several days to get through my responses to my discussions. I definitely care and am interested in the responses I get or else I wouldn't bother. Some days I don't have any ideas of things to post - so I just respond to others discussions. Other days I have ideas popping in my head all day. Thanks for your comments!

I won't post something only because it is controversial, but if its something I care about and a little controversy would bring more responses to a discussion, why not use it?
I was annoyed at the whole Paris Hilton going to jail thing... not the fact that she was going to jail, but the fact that people were caring so much about whether she does or does not go, that they weren't thinking about things that mattered a lot more. I was annoyed at the obsession that we have with celebrities and pseudo-celebrities.
So I thought why not give the topic a title that I thought was controversial. I entitled it something like "Does Paris Hilton really matter?"
Well it didn't work. That was 2 months ago, and I got 0 responses.

I must have missed that post on Paris Hilton - I would have said "no" - she doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. People get arrested and sentenced to jail every day. Why should she matter? I know, she is "famous" but I certainly don't consider her to be a good role model.

I do not- I actually stay clear of those. I have my beliefs and people here and other forums really get rude at times – so I don’t bother- I believe that many people do just this though- They post it and never respond back to others – and other members post and comment and fight and still nothing from the original poster- they sit back and rake in the cash! lol

Ive posted a couple of controversial topics, where I received tons of responses, but by accident. Then I've posted a couple of topics that received zero responses, which surprised me. It kind of helps me get a pulse on the general mentalities of people, what they are interested in or not. I try to post topics that I do think about...the money thing isn't that important to me (it better not be, I don't make anything significant here). I myself am attracted to really thoughtful and intelligently thought out topics. Although once in awhile I'll go for frivilous and something fun. I stay away from those negative ones, full of anger and resentfulness. Amd I try to keep that negative stuff out of my discussions.
