What is the best lesson you have learned from your parents ?

The best lesson I learned from them was not set by a good example, rather a lousy one. They're great parents but even great parents make big mistakes. My Dad was extremely controlling and my mother handled things by submitting to his supposed authority. I learned that we are not going to get anywhere by dominating or submitting, that we have to be in the middle, and be independent. The only thing in love we need control over is ourselves.
