I'm going to say that most are women because I'm pretty sure there are more women on mylot than men. A lot of women do the 'stay at home mom' thing more often than guys and i know i've come across quite a few who use mylot as one of the many ways to make a little cash while staying at home being the house wife and mom...since that's an unfortunate unpaying job.
Besides, I think in general this is just a place that has more women than men... and that would be why more 10 stars are women.

I would love to see the demographics of myLot to see who is posting here.
There are a lot of women in their 20s to 50s here, a lot of them are either home raising kids or running a home, and this is a chance to meet other people and to be able to respond to topics in an intelligent way. I am not going to say that all the women that age fit in this category. Some people see a woman, especially a mother or wife who is left at home, and forget that there is an intelligent person there. Someone with opinions and with the knowledge to make a difference. They are in a positions, either by choice or by cultural reason, that they do this.
I have many female friends, and many have high ratings. Because I am male and have some different views on things, I also have many male friends, and some even have ratings as low as a 3 or 4. To me the ratings are both for the quality of the post and the content. myLot says not to rate because you agree or disagree but on whether the content is good. I tend to think if someone writes a post that brings me to read it, even if I don't post to it, they are worth giving a +. The only times I give a - is if they either attack in an evil way or they try to take a subject away from what the topic is and to totally subvert it.

your observation is good..well i noticed this too.i think there are more woman than man in mylot.also most of them are house wives as you commented.also they provide qulity discussion as well as take their own time to answer the question.they have enough time to do that.but man and students (i am not talikng about all...there are many man with star rating 10) are very busy with earning money.they will not care about quality, but quantity!they want to make many responses and want to start many discussion.may be this is the reason! happy mylotting~

It is true that women out run men in numbers when it comes to mylot participation. As such more women have the rating 10. It should be in proportion with the strength ratio between men and women. Any way I do not think the star rating actually reflects the real quality of the user. I know many users whose discussions are of suiper class but whose star rating are 3 to 7. It seems ridiculous. Ot so happens because many people rate them negetively because they disagree with them.
Thank you naadia.

Is it perhaps that women can naturally more empathic to each other. And perhaps there are more women than men on here? I don't know. The problem with that is that I am a guy! LOL Last time I looked I was 10 star. I don't think it's anything to do with gender, but more to do with responding in as helpful a manner as possible. I love to help and support other people, and that's probably I became a therapist and try to do my best for everyone I meet on line and off line. :-)

Hi Naadia,
i think, its unfair to add users with 10 star rating. i mean, i never count on the stars but go by the quality of the posts. i have found many users with a low star rating have some great thoughts to share. you know what, our stars are mostly at the discretion of the whims of the users, so i donot give that much priority to it.
sorry, i forgot to congratulate on the 10 star. keep up the good work going and its very important to maintain the rating. so you go girl...
smiles...

if i may come in again, majority of mylotters are women so its obvious that we have more friends who are women than who are men. even i have only a few male friends. however, i hardly discriminate.

there are 102,658 mylotter so adding all as friend is not possible.isnt it!i have many friends from 6-10 star...i always add him/her as a friend if i found her discussion or response are good.but i noticed that most of this good discussion are from 10 star mylotter...i agree most of my friends are 10 star!
another fact is that ..i always give a discussion postive if it have some quality and atleast 2-3 lines.i always all comments in the discussion i participate..i mean all comments!
i am very much concerned about this star rather than money!it make me feels good and prompt me work here!we got a 10 star because people loves our work here.that is a nice thing to hear!isnt it?

well honey i am not sure where you are from. but it don't go down like that here in the good ol USA! we teach our girls to grow up to be smart women who can do anything they want to. i would never ever tell my daughter that a man is smarter then her. and i don't know who told you that men are smarter then women, but i feel sorry for you and them.

I add my friends because I find them interesting or some of their posts interesting, they may come from my country, we may have similar interests in somethings, but I never choose them by their stars. I had a hard time getting up to a nine, even though I considered some of my responses quite intelligent, but I guess many do not like that I am a Christian, pro-life, and anti-abortion and anti-embyroic stem cell research and I had a past that I did not continue in.

you've been very observant in your mylot activities. that may be true. :)
most of the 10 star mylot users in my list are also women, but there's a good number in their 20s as well. and i also have several 10 star mylot friends who are men. the stats just maybe reflects the types of discussions that attracts certain types of people. of course we would like to have quality responses for our quality discussions and quality posts to respond to... so we might as well add these people as friends. :)

Maybe the other thing to be wondering is what percentage of women make up mylot. I don't know whether it is a 50/50 make up of men and women, or are there more women than men? Maybe this accounts to more women having a 10 star, or maybe it is because women are just better at having discussions, and being open with things!

Well, I have to say that if I was here just for the money, I would have been gone a long time ago, lol! I just like the different discussions, opinions and cultures. And I guess because I'm a man, I'm probably less inclined to discuss a lot of stuff in person than I do on mylot!

You can see that most of the Mylot members are House wives, who stay at home taking care of the home and the children. Most of them are here to spend time and earn some extra money.
With that, there is no wonder that many of them you pointed out are Women, that too of age between 30 to 40.

Hello naadia,
I am not sure whether I should agree with you on this. But I agree to say that most of the members here are women *smiles* I got my blue star in a week after joining My Lot but it disappeared as fast as it comes. I was made to satisfied with my red star indeed. Recently, I got back my blue star and I don't know how long it will survive beside my name here *smiles*
But it doesn't matter to me anymore. As long as I am happy here, that is good enough for me. I don't really look at the star to start respond to others. For me, as long as the discussion is attractive and I have something to say, I will respond. I also respond to new user discussions sometimes, if I have ample time to do so.
By the way, congratulations to you for getting that blue star. Hope you will enjoy mylotting here. Have a great day!

That is an interesting observation. I am a ten star rating too. Are there a lot more women on My Lot? There could well be.
I think too, that a lot of women are stay at home mums, so this may account for the discrepancy.

Aww naadia sweets you got your own 10 star sweets - so well done to you! I never realised that most people who had a 10 star fell into that category - pretty amazing - maybe we have just experienced a little bit of life and learnt how to use diplomacy, understanding and love - oh yes and how to meet wonderful friends! xxx

that's a good observation! i recently came across someone with 100/100!!! wow - I'm looking forward to attaining that! wish me all the best!
coming to that, think it's high time i did some mylot housekeeping and start awarding best responses to close the discussions. sometimes you never know whether more of your friends might be coming in, but guess after a week should be a good rule of thumb.
