Let's talk in terms of chicken nuggets, lol! My son eats these a lot as it's one of the only things he likes right now and doesn't upset his stomach. He can eat up to 6 chicken nuggets for one meal. I usually make him 4 to 5. He just turned one on Saturday. I was talking to my sister and she said her kids (ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2) eat 6 nuggets combined (plus fries but I don't feed my son fries)!! Aggh!! I knew my son was eating a lot, but didn't realize it was THAT much! He isn't anywhere near being overweight and is VERY active for a one year old. So...how much do your kids eat?

I have 2 kids in here. And one of them is picky eater and it's really-really challenging to make her finish her plate. the other one is the other way around, she eat everything, and she always finish whatever she has on her plate.

Wow. Yeah, pick eating can get dangerous. My son won't drink the pedialite or pediasure stuff. So hopefully it won't come down to that for him. He only likes water and milk, but maybe that will change.

Those picky eaters!! My son is picky too. I try to feed him things that at least have some sort of nutritional value. For a while he just wanted bread so I finally found chicken nuggets and that at least has protein.

All my children eat differently. My oldest 11 eats 6 nugets fries and a drink. My 9yr old eats 12 nuggets fries and a drink. My 7yr old eats 5, fries and a drink. My 6yr old eats 4, fries and a drink. My daughter 4 eats 4 nuggets and a drink. They are all very active and none of them are overweight. Each child will eat differently and don't worry I don't think your son eats to many nuggets since he's not eathing the fries.

Thank you for your response! That is a very varied bunch you have on your hands! :) I guess I get a little worried as a first time mother that I'm doing something wrong, but I need to understand that every child is different!

With my first I was constantly worried he was on a special diet. He was born lactose intoleratant and allergic to a lot of different foods. It is hard not to worry about the people you love most in life. Your worry proves your a wonderful mother.

My son eats 4 chicken nuggets and usually most of his fries. And he loves hot dog weenies. He will usually eat 2 or 3 weenies at the time. I do think that is a lot for a 3 yr old but my son is no where near overweight. Actually, according to the pediatrician he is underweight. But I am glad he has a healthy appetite. He eats all the time but he is very very active. And when snacking he mostly eats health food. He just loves his veggies.

You're son doesn't sound like he's over eating the nuggets (I would recommend getting the best quality you can though because they can be loaded with salt and other crap). My sis-in-laws kids eat nuggets and canned grean beans almost religously. Her 1 1/2 year old can put away more than 6 plus beans plus extras. My kids rarely eat, but are not stick thin and I would rather feed them less of high nutrient foods then more of empty foods. That's just how i was raised. PS - look at your number!!! 666 LOL

ps - my kids are hooked on red bell peppers, pickled garlic, cucumbers, snap peas, grapes... At least for now! I know there'll be a time where McD's is the only thing in their stomachs.

Haha! The funny thing about the post 666 is I posted a Bible question and that came up with the post! Funny how that works... I'm glad it doesn't seem like he's overeating. He's about average for his weight and doesn't have much fat except for his legs but even that he's pretty skinny. I guess I shouldn't worry unless he starts packing on the pounds. I'm a vegetarian so I want to feed him the best foods that I can, but I'm going to let him choose whether or not he wants to eat meat when he's older. He needs the nutrition now. I haven't taken him to McDonald's yet so we only feed him the frozen kind. He really likes the veggie kind as well. Your kids seem like they eat a very well balanced diet! I need to feed him foods that are better for him but it's hard as he is a very picky eater.

Hummm...I dont know if I would consider that alot either. My daughter has spurts. She is 7. Some weeks she eats a ton, some weeks she cant even finish a happy meal from mcdonalds. He is growing and as long as he isnt overly big, or not active, I am sure he is fine...especially if the is the only thing you give him for a meal.

Well, I just got back from his well child checkup...he's in the 10-25 percentile for his weight (25-50% for height), so I know I'm not feeding him too much! Now I just have to make sure I'm feeding him enough!!

Mind you, my son is thirty now. I did not do chicken nuggets,at age one he would eat three full meals daily, and two or three snacks. At that same time, when I quit nursing him, and started giving him a bottle. At that time, he would go through a half gallon of milk daily as well. We ate regular meals of tender meat and potatoes and vegetables of all kinds. He looked a little chubby at one, but by school age he was so thin I had to buy slims. He is 6'7" now, and he never weighs more than about 180 pounds. I think one year olds eat a lot because they are growing quickly. He would eat three servings of maltomeal for breakfast.

I didn't really think of the height issue when asking this question. But that's a great point! I am the only short person on both my husband's and my side of the family. My husband is 6'2" as well is one of his brothers and sister, his other brother is 6'7" I believe. My son drinks about 1/3 of a gallon of milk a day. He's probably going to be a tall man like his daddy and the rest of his relatives! He'll tower over his 5'2" mommy! haha.

My son is 18 months old. He's a big eater. When I fix frozen chicken nuggets for him, I also give him corn and a banana or some other fruit for dessert. He usually eats about 5 or 6 nuggets, along with a bunch of corn and his fruit. He eats three full meals and three snacks every day. Most days he can eat the amount I mentioned above. Sometimes he doesn't eat quite that much, though. It depends on whether or not he is going through a growth spurt. My son's not fat either. He's 34.5 inches tall and weighs 27.5 pounds. He just needs to eat a lot I guess. I've heard it will slow down once they stop growing so fast. I guess we will jsut have to wait and see.

Wow. Your little boy is a tall one! :) I think I'll keep trying to get him to eat fruit with his meals and cut back a little on chicken. Thanks for your response!

Right now at the age of 5 my son eats 6 nuggets and picks at the fries. He likes either apple juice or chocolate milk with it. On occasion he has sprite. When my son was one he was eating a lot and probably could eat up to 6 nuggets too. He was a little blubber and now that he has grown, he's really picky with what he eats.

Oh dear, at this rate my son will be eating 20 nuggets at a time when he's five, lol! Maybe not...I'm glad to find out that it is rather normal for him to be eating this much. That's good that your son doesn't gobble up the fries and picks at the nuggets. My son loves fries when we give him a few to munch on...I know if given the choice he would eat fries for every meal, ha! He loves anything bread like and starchy.

Hi there. We have 2 children, and they are both good eaters... Sometimes thought we have to slow our daughter down, as she wants to carry on, and I dont want her getting big or anything, in size, because she will end up struggling in life, if we did... Lucky for us, we are aware of the weight problems in children and we can knock it on the head before it even happen...

I'm semi-veg, but my son likes meat (he just turned one on Friday, yay!). Yesterday, he ate a regular sized bowl of honey apple oatmeat, 2 sausage links, OJ; lunch is a chicken or turkey sandwich with pickles (he's crazy about dill), a cookie, water or herbal tea (not too crazy about starting him on real tea yet, but he wants it when I drink it); and dinner was a full bowl of rice and pickled radish, broccoli, and some beef tips. But he moves so much, he's still thinner than I'd like. All of his weight is muscle, other than a little layer of baby fat. He's very nearly thirty pounds though, so I like my little football star, lol. Blessed Be

You will always think your kids are eating too much hunni, mostly coz you compare to how much you eat yourself. But that aint fair, kids will eat more than grown ups as they need energy to grow, and by being active they burn of the callories faster than they can eat them. You say yourself that ya stinker is far from overweight and very active for his age. SO why worry?
