A Possible Recall of the Diabetic Drug Avandia

I just heard on the news that a common medication for diabetics, known as Avandia is being recommended by a panel of federal scientists to be pulled off the market, due to the known risk factor of triggering heart attacks. And apparently this fact may been known for quite awhile but the FDA didn't do anything about it sooner. Also, from what I gather, many medications geared for diabetics can also increase the risk of heart attacks.
Now I'm not a diabetic, but I do know there are people here that are. But it makes one wonder....Are the drug industries so big on high pressure to keep issuing these wonder drugs just to make a big profit? Are these so-called "wonder" drugs really the answer to what ails us? So many medications while they may help the specific problem can trigger off worse problems...I mean for crying out loud...which is worse..the diabetes, which could possibly be controlled by proper diet, or relying on a medication that could trigger off even worse problems, like a heart attack?

If it gets approved that does mean it has been tested for many years and should work accordingly unless people over use it.
Interesting, ill do more research about this.

That's really scaring...I have been diagnosed to be of type B or 2 diabetic, and I'm on medication now...thankfully, it's not Avandia...but what I'm worried now is the risk of a heart attack, heaven forbid. My blood sugar is not really that high...just recently my blood sugar count was 121 (fasting)...but had a 170 reading after a lunch...But nevertheless, I had to drastically cut on my sweet intakes...the only liquid I can take aside from water is kalamansi juice, diet soda, and non-fat milk...My diet is also measured as per the dietician's instruction..

I think a lot of blood sugar problems can be dramatically improved by diet...I have the opposite..low blood sugar but I still have to be careful of too many sweets.
