I don't think Simon Toffel can project himself honest just by accepting that he had given Sachin Tendulkar out was a wrong decision. In case of Kevin Peterson he called third umpire when Peterson had gone to the dressing room and he was asked back to play. If Toffel had immediately realised after seeing on giant screen, he would have called Sachin back.

There was a different case between Pietersen and Ganguly's dismissal.
In case of pietersen, it was a definite edge but it was not carried to Dhoni. Taufel first gave him out because he knew that there was edge and it was carried but Steve Bucknor was not sure about the catch taken and he asked Taufel to call for third umpire.
In ganguly's case, there was a straight forward catch, but there was no edge, there was sound but not of bat. taufel thought its of bat and gave him out. At this point, the leg umpire can't do anything, because he is not responsible to see, whether there is any edge or not. I hope you understand...
As far as tendulkar is concerned, on first thought, it looks out as not offering any shot. But On reply it suggests that its outside off stump. Its a different case but bad luck to tendulkar

And yes, remember in 1st test on last day, Sreesanth, the last batsmen of India, was clearly out LBW in monty panesar's last over, but umpire Steve Bucknor didn't gave him out. India went on to save the test match...
What will you say about this???

yes i completely agree with u.
umpires are humans and its a human tendency to make mistakes. and one more thing to be said is that the HAWK-EYE is not vary reliable. u must have heard the cmmentators saying about this thing a lot. i know its hard because sachin was going to make a century but on the other hand we must also see that a couple of decisions has also gone our way.

these two were different cases. in peterson's case the ball was not collected neatly, that's y he was called back. but the case of a lbw is a different one. sachin was not offering the shot and it resulted in his dismissal. it has often been said that not offering a shot is a dangerous thing. it was a very close decision and i've no grudge against toffel

ganguly's deciaion was not given by simon but it was given by howell and i'd say that his umpiring was very poor in the match. he didn't gave two lbw (karthick's and jaffer's- both on the balls of panesar) though i'm happy for it. and in sachin's case ball was not too far. it was nipping in and it would have missed the off stump only by few mm.

I know its an older discussion. But i have felt the same way as you. He could have repeated the same thing with Sachin as well. But he did not. Sachin is victim of many biased opinions in past and its still going on. i think for this only he could not score the much awaited century.
