At my old job, I was given the option to get my notary license and I didn't take them up on the offer. I know you can't charge outrageous fees for notary services, but i know you can charge something (in my state you can charge 2.00 per doc)and I'm curious if it's something you can do for a side job? I found some information on a site where my old company went through, but it's not telling me too much.
Is there anyone here on myLot with their notary license, and how often do you use it and do you make money with it?
The website I'm looking on is http://www.nationalnotary.org/howto/index.cfm?&focus=1
and http://www.sos.state.md.us/Notary/Notary.htm Both of these are for the state of Maryland.
Anyway just curious if I went ahead and got my notary, if it's something I could use alot more than once a year. LOL

I have never known anyone to be a notary before. I thought it was a big deal and have always gone to the bank to get something notarized.
What all can you notarize? I am sorry I don't even know.

You can pretty much notarize anything that requires it, except for passports, birth certificates, school transcripts, or other document like that.
I've decided that I'm going to go ahead and get mine-- the license is good for 4 years so as long as I do a few docs a year, I'll get my license fee back.

my sister was once employed in a holding company and i know they spend a handsome amount for notarial fees. there are the regular documents which charge a few dollars per document or per page but there are contracts that notarial fees can amount to 10% of what's stipulated in the contract.
i'm not sure if the business is lucrative but it can pay good if you have a good client base. =)
