I made these burgers a few weeks ago with tiny diced peppers and onions in them and I thought they were absolutely fabulous. My boyfriend barbequed them.
My boyfriend's little brother, who is so used to those little (questionably) ground beef disks you buy by the carton at grocery stores was in his glory, and he ate all the ones I froze within the next few days.

There are some really good burgers out there. I have never really liked any gourmet burgers, they are good sometimes but there's just something too fancy about them for my tastes. The best burgers are the old-fashioned ones. We have a Nation's not too far from here and they do great burgers. In-N-Out does some good burgers, too; you can always tell their meat is pretty fresh. I've always been a sucker for Wendy's meat, too, it's got a great taste and goes well with the fresh condiments.
They are all pretty good, it's really got to do with the idea of putting meat in-between some bread with good condiments that mix well with the taste.

To me, the best burger is one made from the beef from our own organically/naturally raised cattle. The hamburger, as well as other meat from them, tastes much better than what you can get at the supermarket. (IE: no steroids, growth hormone, or anything like that, and no additives) I like to make it a bacon cheeseburger, and put on a little ranch dressing, lettuce, tomato, and pickle slices. Geez, I'm starting to get hungry (and you solved my problem of what to have for supper, lol)
