Yesterday i joined a site perfspot.com and there i got a freind request from a person named eve okomo. She had sent me a message that she got RS. 10.5 MILLION in her bank account and want it to invest in my country and hence want my help. She want to transfer it to my account in india and would then utilise the money. I am sure she is phising me but at the same time i am not sure and could not take chance. I am in a confused position. Today as a reply to my email she sent her photo and phone number and asks me to phone her. She also said the money deposited is in COOPEC BANK. Can any mylotians help me to find out how to find whether its a real opportunity or a fraud?????????

It is a scam. Why should someone you never met trust you and put that amount in your account? It works this way. The scammer says that in order to send the money you have to pay a small fee. Sometimes it is just a few dollars. You send the money. Then he says that there is a problem and you have to send a lot more. You send again. At one point you have already sent so much money that you can't afford to lose anymore, so you keep sending money when he says things like "the government is corrupt and you have to send money" or "I need money to make the box (there is always a security box) to your country". There were cases when they invited the victim to go to Africa, India, wherever and ripped them off. Visit http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/07/09/419_scam_anatomy/ for more info.

Please don't get caught up in this lie. It's not real. There has been lots of news stories on TV about this scam. One man lost over $10,000 and is now working with the people who are trying to track them down. This is how they build trust, they join in sites like that and Mylot then pull their scam, then disappear. If still in doubt call the bank and ask if this person has an account there. Tell then you have a pending charge of a large amount and you were checking to see if they could cover the charge. Be sure to look up the phone number of the bank, don't take one she gives you. Frankly I wouldn't waste any time on this, knowing that it is a scam.

Hi, This is a fraud and do not fall as a prey to them. They have been caught once in our place in India in Kochi by cyber cell, as they came to collect money form one Mr.Jospeh, this was well planned by the cooperation of police and that person was handed like this many types false stories comes just to get a part of our money. Hence I hope it is better to avoid this even I had few mails like that too I just avoided all that.

This is most assuredly a scam/fraud. This kind of message have fooled those ignorant to the fact that these types of scam originally started as scam email, which are still aplenty nowadays. Please don't believe in such things even if they email you back when you inquire about it. They're just trying to hook you into giving them personal details they can use or get money from you.

This type of mail i receive almost daily on my inbox or bulk folder. Please don't get fooled by them as they might cheat you easily with their tactics of acting like giving away lots of money. My only suggestion is to just ignore those kind of mails and never respond to them, as you will not gain anything from them but only lose.
