Yesterday I was going outside and happen to look down at my kitten and it was just laying there.. I went over to touch her and it wouldn't move, it was like it was almost dead.. So I ran in the house and got my husband and said I think something is wrong with the kitten.. He came out to look and seen it laying there.. He touched it and try to move it and nothing.. I was like oh no my kitten..lol Than he went to pick it up and the kitten looked at him like what do you think your doing.. My husband said he looks fine to me now.. I said gee I never knew a kitten could sleep that hard.. He said don't that remind you of another pet we had.. I just look at him and said yeah "Boots" our one dog that would snore and sleep like a log and nothing I mean nothing would wake him up.. But I am so happy my kitten is ok!!

Isn't it amazing the way we attach to our cats? Or any pets? I have never had a cat sleep that hard but can imagine the panic you felt when she didn't raise up and answer you. I am glad she is ok.

I don't know why they do that though.. It's freaky you think there's something wrong when there really isn't.. I have to admit I sleep the same way.. But I know they don't get it from me...

Wow, so glad your kitty was okay. How frightening. Two of our kitties gave us a scare earlier this year and they did almost die. Was a bratty girl here locked them in a container and poured water on them. It was toward evening and her and her parents left. We did not know she had done this. Next morning when one of my grandkids went to feed the cat they heard one's very weak mewing and opened up this container where they had gotten hypothyrmia over the night and not much air. We did pull them through and they are in great conditon now. We called the girls parents and she got in lots of trouble. She is NOT welcome here again. She is very abusive to animals we found out. She is 11 years old and knew better.

Oh no, Poor little things.. Grrr If I had a kid that did that I would of done the exact same thing that's for sure.. I don't know how people can't do that to cats.. Some are just totally mean though and drop them off cause they no longer want them.. That happened to me where I used to live I had alot and couldn't figure out why.. Than finally started noticing people were dropping them cause they didn't want them or take care of them.. Some people! Thank you for your reply!

When I first brought him home, every now and then my kitten would all of a sudden go still. Like he shut down, his eyes would be open but he was floppy, like he had no bones, as if he'd been run over and killed. He would come round after a minute or two. He did it once at my feet while I was on the phone to his "other Mum" my friend who gave him to me. She said he hadn't done it with her and that his feline Mum, brother or sister had never done it. She hadn't heard of it before. I began to think it was some sort of fit or seizure he was having, he would stop and go limp, barely breathing then he'd be ok. It freaked me out at first but by the time I stopped worrying, he stopped having them. I haven't seen him have and episode for a long time.

Do you know what I was at my parents the other day and she has 3 dogs, anyway is was playing with one of them and I said to my mum about one of the other dogs - she always seems to be sleeping, we both looked down at her I had to do a double take it didn't look like she was breathing, so we said her name, and nothing, so I poked her and she slowly lifted her head. My mother and I looked at each other like we'd about to have a heart attack, ended up laughing!

I am only scared if a cat sleeps through feeding time. If the can of cat food doesn't wake them up, I figure I have a problem. I have a couple cats that I periodically check to see if they are breathing. Must be nice to be able to sleep that deep.

When I was much younger I could sleep through ANYTHING! Now that I am older, I still sleep soundly, but it doesn't take as much to awaken me. Years ago, you would have to touch me to break my sleep cycle. It's like my ears would shut off because family members could scream at me in attempt to wake me, to no avail. If you wanted me awake, you would have to come get me. :-)

I would for sure think so... Opening cat food and nothing, But shaking them don't wake them.. Does that make any sense?? I mean really i tried to pick this kitten up nothing my husband did and nothing than my husband poked at her a few time to finally waken her.. humm I sure don't know.. I posted above the same comment I sleep hard at night myself when I go to bed I go to bed and sleep.. The only problem with sleeping hard though is I wake up with a headache cause I am in to deep I think..

That would be super scary! I'm glad your kitten is ok too! Unfortunately we had that happen to us once where our sick dog really had passed away and my adult daughter found her. It was awful so I can imagine how you must have felt.

The little stinker was teasing you..*laughing*..How funny that she didn't move when you touched her..Maybe she is so used to your touch she didn't want to react...I am so glad that she is fine...I bet your heart skipped a beat or two.

Oh yes a few times, the fear of something happened to her.. The thing is though I hardly pick her up cause she is an outside cat.. My son is always handling her and she just loves him she cuddles up to him and sleeps right now to him and everything.. But she really shouldn't tease me like that... Thanks for your reply!!

Thank God your kitten is safe. I am too sensitive about kittens. i feel pity on them when i see them on roads. i just feel that i pick them and take them to my home. but, since i am not allowed pets in our building, i cannot do it. Take care of your kitten.

I never heard that animals can sleep like that. Usually they will just wake up when they heard voices or when we touched them. You have a strange pet just like human. Ha ha :D But the point is its ok now. :D

Yeah they do.. I think it's just something some of them do.. I mention my dog did that.. I think cause they get used to noises that it don't bother them as much and they sleep like rocks and when you try to get them to wake up they don't care they just want to sleep.. It's just the way some of them are... Thanks for your reply!

That is funny... I think if a cat did that to me I'd scream too, but not have the intention of making everyone jump though but of course no is going to sit still after that.. After Ghost stories though and hearing them you just never know... Thanks for your reply!

WHen i had my cat, he never did anything like that. My dog is a really light sleeper. If you stand up while she is sleeping you can see her ears perk up. Glad your kitten is ok.

I'm really happy for you , there is almost nothing worse in the world than thinking there is something wrong with one of your beloved pets. The day after i had my chihuahua puppy he got ill i was worried sick, and didn't sleep but thankfully he's fine.
