Last night I filled my dishwasher and ran it. Then went to bed. But my husband was still up. I guess about ten minutes later I smelled something like smoke. Yes it was my dishwasher it fried. Im lucky it didnt cause a fire. And thankgoodness my hubby was still up because he unpluged it. Now I have to do my dishes by hand and they are getting dryed out. Do your wear rubber gloves when doing dishes? I must get my self a pair! Geez!!!

What a bummer! I love my dishwasher. I hate doing them by hand. I don't use rubber gloves when I wash them.

oh that sucks, that happen to our dishwasher last year, and until base housing could replace it we had to wash the dishes by hand, I used Dawn and did not have a problem with my hands getting to dry

Oh you poor thing....lol...That must be a disaster....I am hand washing at the moment at it is driving me INSANE...I have no dishwasher until I get my new kitchen at the end of the month, and I have been hand washing for the last two months...But I would hate to have one and then for that to happen to it, just is the worse thing..I dont use gloves because I cant stand them on my hands, I am keeping the hand moisturiser people in business though..

Awwww sorry to hear that Terry. I don't wear rubber gloves when I handwash my dishes because the soap I use is one I bought from Whole Foods and its really nice on my hands.

Yeesh Terryz...what next??? It seems it has been one thing after another since you moved to your place...Thank goodness your hubby was still awake, and you smelled the smoke.... Uh, nope don't wear gloves while washing dishes---and I've been doing dishes by hand --no pun intended all these years--I just use moisturizer afterwards.

Yeah we had our dishwasher fry on us recently as well. Got the 0 percent financing on a not too expensive replacement down at the Sears scratch and dent store. Saved a bundle and got a unit that we've not had any problems with. Did spend some of the saved cash on an extended warranty, but hey--- Its working!

oh gee dishwashers, ours is playing up. so we can only run in every so often. luckily theres not heaps of people in the house.
my mum doesnt put as much in it now as she use to because it not cleaning because something to do with the pressure. but when i wash up i use gloves, they are fairly cheap usually about $2 i pay for a large pair but thats for a good brand and even with not slip tabs on the finger tips they have.
if you pay like $4 or something you can get these new ones i saw they are like antibacteria ones but i didnt worry about them.

I do all my dishes by hand and always have.....I used to wear rubber gloves until one day when i took a plate out if the cupboard and felt something stuck to it,it was food that I had missed, now I use my bare hands and can feel the dishes and their 'contents' while washing and drying....

I am so glad it didn't cause a fire for you. That is exactly why I will not turn something on and leave it running when I leave the house.
I have a great tip for you. Put lotion on your hands before you put the gloves on. Put on a lot and don't rub it completely in. The heat from the dishwater will help the lotion soak into your skin better. It is like giving yourself a mini spa treatment at home every day. By the time you are done with the dishes there will be no lotion residue left on your hands. It is fabulous.

Thats no good, Terry. I used to love my dishwasher, but when we moved the new house doesnt have one. And i hate washing up! I am always the one that does it. I dont wear gloves, though. They annoy me. But i so need to get a dishwasher for this place! Hopefully one day.
Best wishes to you, Terry

Well if you are looking to get your dishwasher repaired, think about it first. In most cases it is cheaper and more efficient to buy a brand new dishwasher rather than paying a load of money to hire an engineer to buy the broken part and fix a used dishwasher. Whenever one of my cleaning appliances have broken down, i have got a quote from an engineer and it has been cheaper to buy a new one!! I made sure that i let the engineers secretary on the phone aswell! I was amazed at the price to repair it!

I don't like to wash dishes by hand but I have to since I don't have a dishwasher. Sorry that yours got ruined. I don't use gloves but it would be better to get a pair.

Hi TerrZ! Good thing it didn't cause a fire, you're lucky indeed! Well, when I wash dishes, I don't use gloves because I am not comfortable with them and I love the water on my hands anyway. However even I use dishwashing liquids that are mild on hands, my hands really get dried up and looks wrinkle that's why I use hand lotion lavishly after washing dishes. :)

honestly, i had never seen a real dishwasher and i dunno how it works..at home i do the dishes everyday..i don't use rubber gloves, i wash it with bare hands..like the clothes when we don't have washing machine yet..you should put on some lotion on your hands after doing the dishes so it won't gonna dry.
