To make it big you have to start small...in blog catalog you go visit other peoples blogs and then comment on theirs and they come to yours...you make friends..so and so on...man I would be nothing without doing that! I have only been around for 2 months on my blog...and because of blog catalog i have almost 8000 hits on my entertainment blog...so try it!!! (I am not bragging...I hate people that do that!)

Traffic exchanges might work well for you, I just started using them. I'm using this one http://www.medievalhits.com/signup.php?1363 and http://topsurfer.com/newuser.cgi?referer=mlozinski that one. I like both of them, and I've been getting some good traffic so far. I hope this helps you.

i have done that but i want to be ethical and not in any way spam or overload people so i choose to do when people ask for my blogs

SEO even works for blogs, First your keywords must have attiquit dencity, @2-3% and make sure the keywords or tags actualy are in the writen text. It does no good to use the word "Electronics" for example if the word doesn't even appear in your text. Secondly link to other blogs with same topic as yours, again it does your site no good to link to Jewelry sites if your site is about "Work At Home'
The third thing is conten, lots of arigenal content, If you only have a few paragraphs and lots of links to unrelated sites your not going to do well. The search engines like lots of changing content, so update regularly. Also try this SEO software for free:

Its all about hard work!! you have to be able to spend a lot of time promoting it... the best way to do it is to sign up for few blog directories, specially the ones with a great friendly blog community, i prefer BlogCatalog but theres MyBlogLog and Bumpzee!! and a whole lot more! but the importance of this communities is the discussion area! like forums where people help each other and u can promote ur blog/website!
Theres of course Traffic exchange sites where u visit/review others and they will do the same for u... like BlogMad and Link Referral!!
