I am sorry to hear that you had such a frightening experience. Do you have a fear of needles? Some people faint when they have them - and that includes men who are otherwise fearless. Also... You seem to have had a full-blown anxiety attack. As a therapist I have helped many people who experience this. I use a combination of meditation and hypnotherapy to help them. It may be wise for you to contact a competent, registered therapist where you live as you will need to consult with him/her face to face. If you can, talk to your friends and family about what happened to you, and visit your doctor and ask if it is possible for you to be referred to a qualified person who can help with counselling etc. This sort of anxiety can be beat, but you need to act. :-)

It is good if you can talk to your doctor. I have an article on my website that may help you understand the nature of anxiety and panic attacks better, you can read it here - http://ayrehypnotherapy.com/changenature.html

It's like you are going to pass out. It can be a common thing for people, especially if they are having something done that they dont feel comfortable with.

I have this problem as well. When I was younger I would pass out every time I gave blood. It was the same feelings as you are explaining, blured vission, hearing going, then everything went black. I would wake up and my body would be tingling. I guess it runs in our family as my brother/sister/mom all have the same problem. I haven't problems as I've gotten older though because I have picked up tricks from various nurses. What causes it normally is a lack of oxygen to the brain. You can regulate your breathing (deep breaths in and out) or just concentrate on breathing. Another thing I've heard is to talk. In order to talk you have to breathe. Therefore you don't lose oxygen and feel faint. It isn't anything serious though. I have passed out about 8 or 9 times in my life and I haven't had any health problems because of it. I hope this helps.
