Is it necessary for chinese's climax of study English

since i came to the middle school, i have been studying English about 8 years! But my English is also not good!
why?
I think the different custom of language is the most important reason. but if we want to enter a higher school, the English is the most important subject! If i learning English is for examination ,i think is not scientific. So what do you think about it?

It's important to be able to practice the language by speaking with native speakers of the language. I've taught ESL (English as second language) and I've had students who have studied for years and years but they can't get to a more fluent level because they don't have a change to actually speak or listen to the language. See if you can find a native speaker who you can practice with also listen to as much English as you can(TV,radio, movies) The more you can immerse yourself in the language the better you will get.
