HELP! I'm having trouble with the "BEST RESPONSE"

When I post discussions it doesn't matter if I get 1 response or 20, I pay attention to the responses. I love hearing how other people perceive life, their opinions and projections on what they themselves might do in a given situation. How am I supposed to judge that? Some responses are short and terse, some are expansive and personal. Of course, the more passionate and provocative the response, the more involved I feel. But does that make it a better response? I don't like to sit in judgement of any response because I am grateful for them all. By the same token, I don't like feeling as though I am short-changing those memebers who take the time to really relate to the discussion. What do you do and how do you decide? I have a lot of unresolved discussions that I need to choose the best response so your help is appreciated - even if you don't get best response!

It is upto you to decide. You are given the judging power. There is nothing right or wrong. I choose the best responses based on the following:
(1) It directly addresses the issue I have raised
(2) Its easy to understand and direct to the point
(3) It tries to provide a better solution to the question
(4) Finally, the answer gives me a satisfactory feeling that the responder is really helping me to solve the problem.
I normally do not look at the length of the response, rather at the content. Thanks.

I don't really know about you, but I do have 'qualifications' when it comes to giving out the best response.
=)
Well, it's really not that difficult. I usually give the best response to that response that really strike me the most. That something that would give you a smile or an intelligent lightbulb while reading the post.
=)
For those topics which often have short responses, I usually dig in deeper as to how a person talks and thinks. I usually give additional questions to each, and try to see how creative they could get. Usually though, those people don't reply anymore, but there are really those who patiently analyze the question and answers my questions well. These are the posts which I consider the best response.
But don't get me wrong, I take a long time to judge the best response. The shortest was around after a week, the longest, well there are still unresolved discussions to date when I first started.
Lots of luck, take it easy and enjoy your time in MyLot.
=)

I love members that give the kind of thought that you apparently do to the responses they receive. You make me feel like we are having a real conversation, and that's the best part of myLot.
I'm glad that there are no time limits for choosing best response! I'll just follow your example and take my time about it. Thanks, laydee!

Oh, I don't really know if there are time-limits as to giving that out, but from my experience, they have never forced me to decided at an instant. *LOL*
Sure, you should try doing that, we're not here to scam anyone by tying many nonsense right? We're here to interact, enjoy ourselves at the same time get paid for it (well the compensation ain't that much, but at least there's a little).
Thank you for the reply.
Have a great time here in myLot.
By the way, nice topic you have there.

I choose the one that is with the same positive thought, but from a different approach. I don't care if the agree or disagree with me, as long as they put something that made me realize some of the thoughts I missed on my topic(s).
I believe that there's always someone out there who'd give a very good point of view, who'd deliver the words from a different perspective..

I absolutely hate picking the best response, most of the time, they are so close that I cannot choose between them. I do have to pick one though...So I do after argueing with myself, but I feel really aweful for the ones that missed out...I feel like ripping out my hair when I do this..lol..But in general, I usually pick the one that I can most relate with or depending on the subject, the one thats makes me laugh the most..

Yeah, sometimes a response is so unique or funny or personal that it kinda jumps out at you, those are easy to choose. I've had some discussions where it seems like EVERY response meets those criteria - then it's virtually impossible to choose :-( I definitely am conscious of not choosing only those responses that agree with my opinion -spme arguements are really persuasive and well-thought out. The bottom line is, I don't like to judge other people's thoughts, even if I don't agree with them. I'm just glad that they are sharing with me. Like you! Thanks.
