Am I the last to know? Musical avatars?

I clicked on a member's avatar and a couple of seconds later, music came pouring through my speakers. I won't talk about the "dumb moment" I had trying to figure out where the music was coming from! lol I've clicked on hundreds of avatars and this was the first time that music was played. How is this done? Sure, you can upload photos galore and links to your personal websites that have music, etc.. But how do you get music when someone clicks on your avatar? If it's common knowledge, why don't more members do it - it's pretty cool to have your own theme music. I think that I'd change my music often, to fit my mood. Today, I think that it would be "Zombie" by the Cranberries. A very high-energy song, regardless of its title. What theme music would you use (if we can ever figure out how to upload it?!)

Oh wow that is a new one on me, I haven't seen that yet. There are so many new things out here on the net for us, toys I call them, LOL. Have you seen the answering machines for your profile? I have one if you would like to go see it. You can leave a message with text or with a microphone and there is a link there so you can get your own. As for the musical avatars, I don't know if I would want one or not. Sometimes just checking out the profiles and the surprise of music scares the snot right out of me, LOL. The kids play games on my puter and they turn the darn speaker up on me all the time. :oD

Wow! You really do have an answering machine for your profile. Kewl! I've never heard of that, wouldn't have even dreamed it up! lol Can I leave a message without having a gizmo download? That's very unique, thanks for sharing that with me.

How nice can that be? I am still trying to find out how to have those avatars that move, like those fairies with flapping wings. I still have not gotten around to finding out how to upload an avatar like these. But anyways, they are very pretty site. And now, here comes a new enhancement, an avatar that actually has sound effects. Very interesting. Hope someone in our community will teach us how to have these avatars too.

I have never come across a musical avatar, how clever, I go into a lot of interests sections and I am amazed at what some people have done with their pages, I am not that clever with such things but I certainly admire those who go to that much trouble...

That is awesome. I have never heard of this before either. Looks like you aren't the last to know. I would love to do this too and I am with you, I'd change my music depending on the mood I was in that day.

I am going to invite that member to join my friends' list so I can ask her how she did that! I'll pass the data on when she replies.

Hey, don't worry, I didn't know that either. If you didn't post this, I wouldn't have known. Thanks for letting me know. I hope people will respond to you so we will know how to include music in our profile. Will check out this discussion from time to time.

Good to know that I'm not the only one! I'm going to ask this member if she would mind if I gave her name so others can see what I am talking about. I'll keep you posted (pun!)

Hi...I know what you mean I had the same feeling when I heard the music too. So far I have no idea how they do it. However, my concern would be copywrite infringement. I think it would be important to find out the legal ramifications of playing music without authorization to do so. I am a free lance writer and I protect the writes to my material and wouldn't hestitate to pursue legal action if someone was reprinting my material under their name. Anyway if you do find out anything more I'd love to add some musical spice to my site...and hear it on others as well.

I like to write, as well. At one point, way back in the day, I had a string of web pages with my poetry, graphics and music (all licensed) Imagine my dismay when that host (angelfire) changed owners and I didn't have anything backed up!! (newbie mistake) I lost all those pages chock full of my html and javascript programming attempts! Then, imagine my further dismay when I came across a piece of mine - in its entirety - attributed to someone else!! I learned my lesson the hard way and would never do this to another artist. It's like kidnapping someone's baby! Hopefully, mylot has protections in place for that sort of infringement.
