Do you really know what your kids are doing?

Last night we got out some old family videos and watched them. It was so funny seeing the kids when they were younger! My boys use to take the video camera outside with them and pretend to be on Survivor. We were watching one of these tapes and I was mortified to see that my 7 yr old brought a knife outside with him to use for Survivor. These kids were passing this knife around using it to build their shelter. I couldn't believe it! The lesson here is...you never know what those sneaky little kids are doing!
Have you found out that your kids have done something they shouldn't have after the fact? Luckily, no one got hurt with the knife.

Hi there. I would say that our children are quiet honest they're always calling or txing to let us know where they are, who with and what time there trainings finish... So we know what our children are doing, and thats mainly training for sports or playing down our street, at a friends house... Our children are 14 and 11 going on 12, we know who their friends are and we also know the parents... At the moment while they are still around the house, playing club sport and in school we know where they are and what they are doing... When they get older and given a little more freedom, I know can trust them to make the right decisions, because they have good values and they are quiet responsible children...

Now that my kids are older, they always let me know what they are doing also. It is a good feeling to know that you have raised honest kids. I bet you have a beautiful family.

Oh no- caught on tape- Shame on them- : ( I’m glad that they didn’t get hurt either- I’m sure my daughter has done things that I don’t know she is doing or did too- I haven’t caught her yet- but I’m sure I will- : ) She is 10… I give her some freedom now- but not tons of it- at home yes-

I thought that the funny thing is they were taping themselves doing something that they knew I wouldn't let them do. It was very funny to watch now that it is years later.

It is surprising for sure to see some of the things kids are doing these days, and it is one reason so many of them have to be watched more than when I was growing up for sure. But I do know that they also have a lot of imagination and do like to copy things they see in Movies and on TV, so you just need to remember to be a little more watchful as well.

We laughed about it last night, but at the time if I had known they would have been grounded. I don't even want to know what they are doing now that they are older! No, they turned out to be great kids and I think that they have some good common sense.
