We here in Minnesota need many prayers at this time and moment. Within the last 30 or so minutes a major bridge crossing the Mississippi River collapsed. So far ther are multiple injuries. No known deaths yet but it doesn't look very promising. This is an Interstate Highway and officials say at least 50 vehicles are involved. the bridge is a span bridge about 80 feet above the river with no piers as added support. Anyhow please pray for any and all victims involved in this major collapse. Thanks. I am going back to watch the news special now. Thanks in advance.

Oh no, that is terrible, a few years back probably around 20, a bridge on i-90 collapsed in NY. I remember, it caused a big stink and they went around inspecting and repairing bridges all over. Bet that will happen now in Minnesota

They just interviewd a man that said he helped the kids escape from the back door of the school bus but he isnt sure if their were any serious injuries as he just caught kids as they were tossed out the door of the bus. On TV they show the bus is very near the edge of the broken bridge. Lord help these kids.

I saw this on the news late last night, and was looking to see about you this a.m. I also did not call my daughter, I know how phone lines are in a disaster. She lives in Champlin, and the best I could tell, that was not any place son in law or they, together would have been driving. Yes, I will pray for all involved. As of last night they said seven deaths.

Nope, Champlin with no 'a' in it. I mapquested her address to Anoka, and it is only 2.6 miles. When the grandbaby was born they were living further away, but we drove through Anoka, or at least saw the signs. I have not been to this apartment. The cutie in my Avatar lives there with her mom and dad.

Champlain? Kewl. I lived in Anoka right across the Mississippi River from Champlain. Good they don't travel that route. I drive it ever so often but haven't for a few months though.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

This is terrible. Bridge collapses are usually very bad with injuries & deaths. Although I hope there are no deaths.
Do they know yet how & why the bridge collapsed? One would think the State maintained the bridge in a good condition, but I guess not. Heads will roll after this.
The poor people.
Let us know what happens.

My son travels this road usually an hour before the time it collapsed. he called me and let me know he wasn't on it at that time but was about 30 minutes prior to the collapse. There are now 7 confirmed deaths. NTSB is coming out in the morning for an investigation also.

30 minutes prior to??? That's enough to make you sick to your stomach. I've had so many people tell me not to worry bridges are safe and never fall apart. This just goes to show that's not always so. I have always hated bridges and I know my daughter is no better. Perhaps she got there because of how I am but never the less.

I heard about that last night. The news footage showing the bridge was unbelieveable! I can't even imagine how scary that must be for everyone involved. I think waiting around to find out if one of the trapped bodies is a loved one would have to be one of the most horrifying experiences ever. My thoughts and prayers go out to those poor people.

This is a major mistake somewhere according to our news. On our news (Canada) we're told the bridge underwent repair in 2005 as well as 2006, and was just under minor repair lately. If that's the case something went terribly wrong. At any rate Yes you're right prayers are in order and as soon as I read your post I said a prayer that everyone would be OK. The news indicated otherwise, that there has been some deaths. This is an awful thing to have happen and the families will need the prayers from all of us. I thank you for posting this otherwise I may not have watched the news tonight. I was at the city today and tired so I may have otherwise went to bed. Thanks Again and you can always count on me for prayers. It's my way to give back to all those who pray for me. Take care and have a safe coming up weekend. It's a long weekend for us.

A friend of mine in Florida was telling me about it and right away I went to cnn's website to read up on it. I already sent prayers up for all the ppl involved in it after I read it. They mentioned that construction work was being done on it last nite that was supposed to continue tonite as well. I wonder if that had anything to do with the collapse. Your the 1st person that I thought about when my friend was telling me about it and sent a prayer up then that you and your family was not on it when it happened. Seeing your post in my inbox assured me you weren't and I let out one huge sigh of relief.

Doesn't that just want to make you cry? I was watching on the news last night, too. My husband was glued to the TV, trying to find out what was going on.
Today, they said that they bridge was inspected and given a "needs to be repaired, but not right now" rating. I guess the gov't. will need to revamp their rating charts when inspecting heavily traveled roadways from now on.
MY heart goes out to all those people that have loved ones on the bridge. I pray that they will find someone still alive in the cars that sank into the waters below. I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.

My prayers have been with everyone involved with this horrific incident since I saw on the news this last night. I was glued to the T.V. for over 3 hours then and am watching CNN again this morning. They have been showing the video someone took of the bridge actually collapsing. How relieved and grateful the parents of the children on the school bus must be to hear these kids were all removed safely. I believe a few were injured, but all alive. So far I've heard nine confirmed deaths, at least 60 injured and perhaps 20 still missing. I'm sure I'm going to continue to watch during the day today.

I just took my family to breakfast and my grandson was telling me about this. How tragic! My grandson and I were travelling 2 days ago and when we went over a huge bridge, he got very scared and asked me if these bridges ever collapsed. I told him that I hadnt heard of such a thing in years...nowadays they do inspections and whatnot.
These people will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I ws remembering you and some other friends in mylot when I first saw the ews on the net. We always used I-35 from Dallas to go for any where, it is in Minnesota but its just beyound imagination...how can a bridge collapse. I remember few days back another highway or something collapsed in US, I forgot which one. But this is really scary and I have seen the school bus was tilted in such a bad way that it was real dangor for the kids and I pray for all of the people there, hopefully it will be recovered soon
