April's Famous 5-10 Marinara Sauce

This sauce is easy to make, freezes well, and is VERY inexpensive. With only 5 ingredients and 10 hours of simmer time, chances are, you can whip this up from items you already have in your pantry - or better yet, your garden! Here's what you need: 1-28 oz can of diced or crushed tomatoes 16 oz chicken stock (you can make it from bullion) 2 Tablespoons chopped garlic 1 Tablespoon olive oil Fresh Basil to taste Ready? Let's assemble! To start, lightly brown the garlic in the olive oil. You don't want it to get very dark, just enough to make it sweat a bit. Then add tomatoes (don't drain the juice!), chicken stock, and basil in a large pot. Simmer over low heat alllll day long, stirring as needed until it reaches the desired thickness. Because of the time involved, I usually make about 10x this recipe at once, and simmer it in a large roaster. It can then be frozen until needed. Toss over your favorite pasta, or try with eggplant or chicken. Delicious!

Thank you for this recipe, I normally buy mines at the store already made, but I prefer to make my own so I know what is in it. I always felt uneasy buying premade products so this will help me a lot. I am making pasta this week so I will make some up tomorrow and use it.

Um this sounds very nice, but how is it Marinara sauce? Marinara has seafood in it. This sounds like Napolitana sauce :) BTW you can add a half teaspoon of sugar to cut the acidity of the sauce.
