How do you start your discussions?

I've noticed so many discussions that start off "do you like","how do you play","have you played" or "do you listen to". Most of the time I can't respond to these because I don't and I think the writer is limiting him/herself to the amount of responses they get.
Today I went through pages of discussions I couldn't respond to and not only does that hurt my earnings but it also hurts the person who wrote it. The only thing I can come up with is that they have a lot of friends and they know they will respond and that's enough for them.
How do you start most of your discussions? Is it usually in a way that can be answered by a simple "yes I do" or don't whatever the case may be or do you word it so most members can respond?

I usually start-- well excuse me why I look over my posts ---sometimes asking a question or stating my problem. You see, even though you do not like questions or some kind of questions, what I do not like is people (usually from India which leads me to believe there is a great plot to get everyone except Indians off of myLot) who start something like this; 'the food you buy from the grocery store contains many pesticides which are dangerous for human conception. The effects of these is palpitation of the heart, boils appearing in the stomach, a strange blue rash on the groin area, followed by arms and legs dropping off ---' This continues for about three of four very scary paragraphs showing the pain suffered by the victims, after which they ask a question like ,"Do you buy your food at the grocery store or at the market?" So there are two discussions I find hard to answer, the yes and no ones and the very scary ones.

don't take it hard my dear suspenseful, just 'off' from that such unfriendly questions. Look for another one which really GENERAL to everyone....
Posting jokes are much better rather than taking 'Indian' story...

HI !!as for me i respond to every discussion i see if i have something to say and if it is in my interests.I have started discussions with 'Do you' and 'Can you' lots of times and got good responses..I dont mind if anybody starts their discussion with do you or can you or with anything always becoz i see the subject and topic.I made a habit of responding discussions with atleast 4 to 5 lines which helps to my earnings and have lots of information to say , if even the discussion is interested and dont have a chance to write descriptively i dont go for that.Smiles.

Hi ctrymuziklvr! :) In my case, I want thought-provoking discussions. Usually, I just jot down my thoughts and make a subject title on my discussions. My friends will respond what they think or their concerns and well-wishes.
Most of the time, I start my discussion with having my suject line as a question. I start with "How..". And usually, I make a discussion subject as a question, but the content is more on thoughts and inspirational ones. :)
I want those who comments to have something to share about their experiences and own thoughts! :)
God bless!

You make a fantastic point, and I'd like to thank you for it. I've failed to pay attention to how I begin my discussions up until this point. I do know I steered away from yes and no answers, but now you've helped me become aware of the need to make the postings structured more toward recieving all possible input on the subject matter. Thanks again.

I actually don't have a method into posting discussions. Whatever comes to me on the day I just post it. Sometimes it starts off with a question and other times its just a heading and then I ask questions at the end of the discussion. It doesn't bother me that I don't get most responses, I just feel good that I was able to post at least one question and have someone answer it LOL I am terrible when it comes to posting anything LOL

I usually try to start my discussions with an issue that might appeal to many people on myLot. Sometimes I get good responses-sometimes not. I have posted on discussions that I thought would be very thought-provoking only to receive very few responses. At other times I have posted on lukewarm subjects and the response was overwhelming. Go figure, LOL.

I always try to word my discussions in a way that I'll get more than a yes or no type answer...I've noticed discussions that have a "how do you..." but sometimes I've found that one can actually give a good response to say a how do you type thing, if they are asking some kind of tech question about say computers..And honestly, being the computer geek I am...beginning to think I should teach computers..LOL

I just looked back and I haven't started many in the same way at all. Sometimes it's with a question sometimes a story.
I think asking a straight out question identical to the topic is lame...and boring. So I usually elaborate first and then finish with the question.

its easy my dear ctrymuziklvr.....just look around you now or into youself....for sure you have questions and at least about you life, your family or your neighbor?
If you're smart enough, be creative in making new story just like Harry Poter....and post it a 'start a new discussion'....there are friends here will respond to your post...just like fish and bait...
