One of my friends started a discussion on star rating she is going to get as she neared 100 posts..
some expressed their disappointment at their rating being lowered but say they did not care..
Well, what exactly does this star rating do for you..Does it make any difference to your earnings algorithm? Any priveleges being revoked?( i know, copy & paste is one).. n what else?
what are up & down sides of star rating? someone explain please..
Thanks

Star ratings have nothing to do with the quality of your posts, just the number and frequency of them. I also don't think it affects how much you get paid per post, it is just that people with higher ratings earn more because they post more.
For example, I have a number of 'best responses' that have been awarded to my replies, yet still I am only rated 3 because I don't have the time to spend hours on here every day. Well good luck to the people who have the spare time to do that, they deserve their ratings. I however have family commitments and just cannot spare the time to post all the replies and topics I would need to get a higher rating. So it really doesn't bother me. I know where my priorities are, and at the end of the day my family is more important than a few extra pennies or a silly number in a star!

actually the highest number you can get is capped at 10. There is no way you could have 100 even if you were on here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (which some people seem to be!).
And my number went up a day or two ago even though I have been taking part in controversial discussions and have been awarded hardly any 'best responses' lately. It is just that I have been making more posts per day. So make of that what you will.

I for one could care less about te star ratings, they could due away with them as far as I am concerned.. They will go up and down.they are influenced only by others here on Mylot and how they rate you.If others here dislike you or disagree with how you respond to their discussions they can give you a negative rating, this is wrong.Your pay has nothing to do with the star rating. So I do not fret about the rating at all.

Thanks for your response.. But what is the point in introducing the rating system.. It is obviously meant for something meaningful..I first felt that It has got something to do with quality responses.. If people are just bothered to collect their pennies, I am afraid, the discussions just go mechanical and some of them may not express what they indeed want to, infact..
Also, there must be a check on all those who create trouble by deliberately & repeatedly give negative ratings..
Nothing should be taken for granted..
I would like to get more info from you or fellow members, before suggesting mylot about anything(I wish, i don't get to do that.. lol)..
