Watching The Sun Come Up, Or Set....

...is something I have always wanted to do with somebody special in my life, but I have never had the opportunity.
I often watch the Sun rise from my dining room window when I'm eating my breakfast, and I watch it set in the west, whilst sitting in the garden on my lounger. These are such magickal moments that I often long not to be alone, and start to think about what it would be like to be with somebody special.
Have you ever watched the Sun rise or set with that special someone? If so... where were you? Were you on the beach, on a hill or mountain, in the countryside? Please share your experiences.
If you haven't been lucky enough to share them, what is your most memorable sunrise/sunset and why? How did it make you feel?

I've always wanted to witness a sunset or a sunrise but each and every time, I'm happen to be in the wrong places, you know, where you won't really see 'it'.
Another hindrance is I'm not really a morning person so perhaps it will take a while before I witness a spectacular sunrise.

years ago when my boys were younger I would get off work and pick them up. Drive down to the beach just the 3 of us. It was a great way to end the day. Just listening to them have fun and me enjoying the peacefulness of the ocean while the sun goes down. We've also been to the keys where they celebrate the sunset every night. That was such a wonderful feeling. I can't really describe it other than it was very special.

Very nice at the Keys, I would think. I have a friend who lives across the road from the beach at Fort Walton, right on the Bay of Mexico, and she sent me a beautiful pic of the sunset over an uninhabited island in the bay. It was beautiful and if I could find it, I would put it in here, but unfortunately, I seem to have mislaid it.
Brightest Blessings.

We literally chase sunsets in the car, my gf takes gorgeous pics of the setting sun, sometimes at mach 2,lol...dawn we have seen many many times as we both had hideous bouts of insomnia our first six months together...the sun has us on a passionate leash.

Yes, when I first met my husband we stayed up all night talking one night and watched the sun come up together in the morning. We were in the tropics at the time and it was beautiful something I'll always remember.
Also I used to work on a dairy farm and watching the sun come up while bringinfg the cows in made the early starts worthwhile!

Oh wow, yes, I would imagine watching the sun come up in the tropics must be something special. I would think it's probably much larger and brighter than it is in my part of the World.
The dairy farming too... seeing the sun come up every morning must most definitely have made the job rewarding.
Brightest Blessings.

I think you are lucky you are able to watch the sun rise and sun set from your home. For me, I need to travel all the way to the seaside in order to experience it and I find it so troublesome. That special feeling would be gone by the time we reached the place. lol.

whyaskq maybe you could use my excuse. I have a very good sense of direction, but whenever I am in England, I always get directions mixed. Maybe it is because the sun there is in the southern skies and ours travels through the northern skies.

An interesting experience I had. That was during the school holidays. We were at a holiday chalet. There were only two rooms and few were already squeezing themselves onto the little beds. That leaves some of us at the dining hall. The three of us decide to stay up so that we would be in time to watch the sun rise. Did we get to see the sun rise? No.... We had a good laugh when we came back complaining we did not see the sun rise. We were trying to see the sun from the west!

I love watching both the sunset and sunrise. Havent done it for a while though. When i was a teenager we lived next to the beach, so have watched many a sunrise. Had plenty of parties back then on the beach, stayed up all night. Dont think i could do that now. We have some beautiful sunsets here. Have added a pick for you that was taken a long time ago, about 16 years. I was on a houseboat on the myall river. This is the type of view we had every night. They were magnificent.
Best wishes to you, Darkwing

Thank you for the pic, Kay... that's beautiful... the path the sun makes across the water, is fantastic.
When I was in Oregon... three years ago, in October, a friend in Ohio sent me some pics of a beautiful October sunrise over his state. That's the closest I've ever been to sharing it, but I guess there's still hope. lol.
Brightest Blessings.

When hubby and I were quite a bit younger and our two eldest sons were youn g , we used to go to St Andrews for a caravan holiday and we used to watch both the sunrise and the sunset often over the sea it was beautiful , This is a thing that always sticks in your mind , We both love nature , when we are out for a drive we comment on the colours of trees and the view all the time , This kind of thing makes me feel really content ( a rare thing at the moment , Take care my friend xxxx

Yes, the sun is particularly spectacular when it rises or sets over the sea, and also when it rises or sets behind trees which are silhouetted on the horizon.
I was born in October and love the Autumn colours. I think they create a very warm feeling inside, even when it's cold out, and the smells of Autumn are so earthy and gorgeous.
Brightest Blessings in hope that you might find full contentment soon, my dear friend. xxx

Awwwwwww, but it's nice to sit in solitude and cast your memory back to the sunsets you did share together, my friend. That would give me a very warm feeling.
Don't be sad because you will find him again in the Otherworld, and every day will be a sunny, bright one for you. Love and hugs. xx

I've never really watched the sunrise. I'm not usually up that early, and if I am it is because I have to go somewhere so I am too busy to be stopping to watch the sun rise.
I have a beautiful picture we took of a sunset on our honeymoon in Prince Edward Island. We had it enlarged to poster size and plaqued on wood. It is hanging in our livingroom. It is a memory of our wedding... 10 years ago today. We have other pictures of that same sunset but with us standing in front of it.

Thank you. I tried to upload the photo but with my new computer/program I am unable to save it as a jpeg and can't download it. It looks a lot like the one you posted though the tide was out and you can see the sandbar that disappears when the tide is in. I still have to figure out how to change it to a jpeg. I have a new program that came with my digital camera. If I can change it over to that program I might be able to upload it. Stay tuned....

Sunrise, sunset or a severe electrical storm - all are precious moments to share with someone special.
We don't get many very spectacular sunrises or sunsets here, but there is always a sense of awe attached to them. I agree they need to be shared with a special person, but my husband is really interested in such things. "Yes, it's nice" would be the limit of his interest - and he doesn't like storms.
I have shared moments of a severe "light show" storm with a special friend (just an extremely good friend - nothing romantic). This was high in the mountains and was really spectacular. Many people are afraid of such storms, but I love watching them.

Yes, I like to watch storms too. I don't know why because my grandmother hated them, and used to cover the mirrors and everything when it stormed.
I think the trouble was that there was a brickworks closeby, just the other side of the recreation ground, where a chimney was struck and a man killed once. That made her nervous, I'm sure. But, I grew up liking them. The thunder makes me jump at times, but other than that, I love to watch from the warmth and comfort of my home. lol.
Brightest Blessings.

I never had this thought all my life, not until someone came and made me realize that it would be the best part of our lives. Sadly, the person that told me about this thing one also the one who left me. But I don't worry much about it, because I know that there'll always be someone out there who'll fill tyhat missing part of my life!;)

Awwwwww, but you have memories implanted in your mind that you will never forget, my friend.
There is somebody out there for all of us, and when he/she does come along, you'll have to take them into the sunrise or sunset, to revive your memory with them.
Brightest Blessings.

I have done this with my other half several times but the nicest was when we were with the kids and set off very early one morning 2.5 years ago to go an visit my brother before he moved to Spain! We pulled over in the car not far from home and traipsed over to sit in the field as the sun came up as we all cuddled together! Nowhere special at the time - just a wonderful memory of watching the sunrise together and feeling happy and content with each other - if only every day could be the same! xxxx

I too can watch the sunset and rise from my kitchen window. I love to watch it rise, but somehow do not like that much setting.
We have a beach close by to my home. Its really wonderful experience to watch the sun rise and set daily when i go for walks in the morning and evenings.

Like you I haven't shared a beautiful sunrise or sunset with anyone either....still hoping of course!! I'm more of a sunset person than sunrise for some reason...but to me all sunsets are spectacular and savor the moment watching nature's beauty paint a canvas of beautiful colors...like this sunset I took many many years ago while in Florida with my mother

Wow... that's lovely Pye. I'm still hoping too, but I'm not sure whether it will happen... perhaps a little wish or two by candlelight might fix that! ha ha ha
This is the nearest I ever got, when a friend sent me pics of a beautiful red sunrise over Ohio in October of the year I was visiting Oregon.
Brightest Blessings.

I prefer watching the sun sets...For me, it tells "I have given you light you needed for the day,now it's my time to rest.Tomorrow, I'l be back and again satisfy you".
The sun setting gives hope after hope...

Yes, you can't beat that peaceful sound of silence, can you? The scenery there sounds beautiful as well... I love waterfalls. It also sounds as though you enjoyed a very romantic moment with that special person, and it's good that you can't forget it.
Brightest Blessings for many a sunrise and sunset like that, in your life, and beautiful memories which will never leave you.

Awwwwwwww, what a lovely thing for hubby to do... and how romantic. I think you may have become a little muddled here though, in that 3 a.m. is much more likely to be sunrise time... although just as beautiful in my book.
I'm pleased to know that you have wonderful memories of both you get-away in Mexico, and the romantic time spent with your hubby watching the sunrise. Brightest Blessings.

Living in a city,I seldom have the chance to watch the sunrise. However,I know it really pretty and it always in my heart. When I was tired or upset,I need it,for it can give me a hope.I will get to know everyday there's a new sun,and the day will renew, nothing can not be acceptable and everything will be alright

A brilliant philosophy, my friend. I am quite lucky in the respect that I can watch it every day, both rise and set, as my flat faces east/west and I live in the countryside. When the Sun comes up, it comes up from behind the trees which silhouette the sky and then behind the church.
I have a pic of a winter sunrise I will put in here, where you can see the Sun rising behind the church, almost opposite my home.
Brightest Blessings.
