I was outside playing basketball with my daughter this afternoon with the uptight father who sent his son to his room for spraying him with water came wandering over. He made some comment about how desperate I was for something to do. (because I was playing basketball with my daughter!) So of course I got on his case about sending his son to his room for spraying water on him. He laughed and made fun of my daughter for telling me about it.
I said, "Geez, he just sprayed you with water. Why didn't you have a water fight with the kid?"
"I didn't feel like it," he said. "I told him 3 times not to do it."
"For crying out loud," I said, "You're not going to melt. Meltdown maybe, but not melt."
We were having this conversation all in a fun way, laughing and teasing, but he said "Kids are a pain in the a**." His 5 year old boy was standing right there. I said, "Then why'd you have them?" "I dunno," he laughed as he walked back to his house.
Anyway, I had a fun time playing basketball with my girls AND my neighbour's son this afternoon. :p

you will always be remembered for the times you spent with your daughter. I feed sad for him, he does not know what he will be missing until he is an old man and no one is around him.

Good for you for being an example to this boy (and your own, for that matter) that the way his father's parenting views are not normal. Thank you on behalf of all decent parents everywhere for using an opportunity presented to show a child who has been given a poor example a good one to reflect back on. Hopefully this boy will grow into a good & loving father someday thanks to your example.

Good for you!! I can't believe what a creep that guy is. Guys like that can really scar kids emotionally. He doesn't deserve kids. Glad his kids can see what your family is like to show them the other side of family life.

Awww he's not fun. His poor son is missing out on some fun time with his daddy. Just as well you told him aye? haha.
It's great to hear you're playing basketball with your daughter. My son loves it when I join him in games like bball, soccer and or tennis.

The last time I tried to play basketball with my kids I took one shot and hurt my shoulder, so I was glad I was able to play yesterday. It was hot and I certainly don't have a lot of stamina having fibromyalgia and all, but I took a break for a couple of minutes and then got back up and played again. We probably played for 3/4 of an hour. But it was really hot yesterday so I think it was a surprise to everyone that I was out there running around.
