In America we have stories for children about the man in the moon. Do you have stories about the man in the moon in other countries? Would you tell me? And if you do not, what stories do you have like that?

In China we have a fairy tale about the moon. It goes like this.
A very beautiful fairy named Chan E lives in the palace of the cool moon. Together with her, but quite some distance from each other, there is a man named Wu Gang chopping down a special tree bearing a certain kind of sweet flowers. Why? It is a kind of punishment to him. You know, fairies are not allowed to fall in love, let alone marriage. They love each other so much, but the Goddess wouldn't allow them to because they have broken the law of the heaven. In order to punish them, Wu Gang is sent to the moon to cut down the tree in vain. Because whenever the tree is going to be cut down, it will just stand up straight again. This way Wu Gang is always seen on the moon trying to cut down the tree all the year round. Therefore his wish to get married to the lady on the moon will never be realized. So on the lunar fifteenth of August, if you place a basin of water under the clear and beautiful moon, you will be able to see Wu Gang cutting down the tree. That is the day when we have our Mid-Autumn Festival Day.
This is an old story from generation to generation. Hope that I have made it clear to you and you enjoy it. Thanks for your time, friend.
