Yeah, right, is what I always say when I get one of these emails:
Dear Winner,
Your ticket number:ticket number: 56475600545 188 with Serial number
5368/05, draw lucky number: 29 Congratulations, you have just won
yourself £500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Pounds Sterlings) in the
satellite software email lottery conducted by UK NATIONAL LOTTERY in which
e-mail addresses are picked randomly by software powered by the
Internet.Your email address was amongst those chosen this quarter and you are
to contact our Financial Controller for Clearance.
I'm sure most others here have received this same email, at least once in their lives. You can't win a lottery you haven't entered.

Oh, yeah, the Yahoo $500... I won that twice last week. Unfortunately, I don't play their games (pun intended).

Lol..so true but I had one even better, I was notified by mail that I had won the Australian Lotto and it came complete with a check they told me to cash ..... lol....wrong answer. I did some checking on that one and found out it was a scam too...so I mailed the letter and check to the Company whose name they used as a front.

Smart cookie. Did you hear back from the company whose name they used?

I actually called them before doing anything and by the representatives request I sent them what I had recieved....the bad thing is the company was a branch of the McDonalds Corporation and the check carried the logo.

What is so sad is so many innocent people get taken by scams just like this one. When I was "young and stupid" I almost fell for this and ALMOST lost $2500. Luckily my mom had investigated it before I sent the money. The internet is right full of scams such as this.

Yes, it is. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of people unsophisticated enough to fall for them. Good thing you have a savvy mom.
