Do you know someone who should be dead?

I dont mean people that have been in bad accidents or anything but people who have SO many things wrong with them (according to them) that they may as well be dead?
I have a freind who apparently suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, toxic shock syndrome, bleeding ulcers and well pretty well anything anyone ever has ever had in their lives.
According to her if someone has an illness she either has it, had it or has identical symptoms which just havent been diagnosed yet.
I hate it when she starts in on it but I dont know what to say to her so she'll shut up and stop.
Do you know anyone like that? Why do they act like that?
it drives me nuts!

this is the thing with the Internet, it is a hypochondriac's play ground, every one thinks they has found their illness, but it's not just any old thing - it could be one of 15 or 20 minor symtoms of something really bad and they go through each potential illness over the next few weeks, so one day it is a tummy ache "but don't worry dear, I probably haven't got that horrible tape worm/bateria/prolapsed whatchme-call-it, but it does hurt like it might be that"

A little more compassionate? For someone who pretends to have every known illness to man just because it's the only way people will pay attention to her?
Not likely.
